Key Takeaways
- Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor offers 404 WLTP miles, 295 hp, and 361 lb-ft of torque.
- Affordable, rear-wheel-drive model with 111 kWh battery and 30-minute 10-80% charging.
- US pricing is unconfirmed, but will likely qualify for $7,500 tax credit due to US manufacturing.
A month after the news was confirmed that a more affordable Polestar 3 was on the way, the Swedish automaker has announced the full details. Destined for a North American arrival later in 2024, the Long Range Single Motor is a rear-wheel-drive model with a WLTP-estimated driving range of 404 miles. EPA testing hasn’t yet been conducted, but we typically see a 20-30% drop. However, as the dual-motor Polestar 3 already has 315 miles of EPA range, we could be pleasantly surprised with closer to 400 from this version.
Performance: Still Punchy, With Very Few Compromises
The electric motor on the rear axle of Polestar 3 produces 295 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 7.8-second sprint from 0-62 mph. But despite lower outputs and slower performance, Polestar hasn’t handicapped it in other departments. The battery, for example, has the same 111 kWh capacity and can be recharged from 10-80% SOC in 30 minutes, while the braking system is the same Brembo-sourced setup as other Polestar 3 derivatives. It’s also equipped with the same passive damper system with Hydraulic Rebound Stops (HRS) and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) to match the dynamics of the more powerful derivatives.

Pricing: Unconfirmed, But Bound To Be Affordable
US pricing will be confirmed at a later date, but in Europe, it starts at €79,890 ($85,500 at the time of writing). However, we expect American pricing to undercut that substantially, as European pricing is typically higher when compared to the States. The current dual-motor Polestar 3, for instance, has a base MSRP of $73,400 locally. Polestar has also confirmed that production will take place in the USA, meaning the Polestar 3 may be eligible for up to $7,500 in federal tax credits, depending on where its battery components are sourced from.
“With the Long range Single motor Polestar 3 we offer consumers a new entry-point for our flagship electric SUV,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “The rear-wheel drive configuration fits with our performance-focused driving dynamics that make the car stand out in the luxury SUV sector.”
