Toyota GR Crown Sport Render Looks Like A Rally-Spec Purosangue

  • The Toyota Crown Sport has been envisioned as a performance-focused GR model.
  • The fictional render transforms the electrified SUV into a hyper hatch.
  • Rumors suggest Toyota is developing a GR version of the Crown crossover.

Rumor has it that Gazoo Racing is hard at work on a performance-focused version of the Toyota Crown crossover. But what if they turned their attention to the Crown Sport instead? Enter digital artist Theottle, who has unleashed the full GR treatment on the SUV. The result? An eye-catching design that reimagines the Crown Sport as a hyper hatch with undeniable presence.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9-9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”);
}
else{

} });

The digital makeover started by borrowing the front bumper and fenders from the facelifted Toyota GR Yaris. The larger intakes suit the Crown SUV perfectly, with a pair of side gills adding an extra touch of aggression.

The profile has been upgraded with a new set of alloy wheels featuring red brake calipers, and wider rear fenders sourced from the Toyota GR Corolla.

At the back, the independent designer added a massive roof wing, which doesn’t look like something that would ever receive the green light for production. In any case, it is complemented by a diffuser, an F1-style third brake light, and dual tailpipes integrated into the revised rear bumper.

The Toyota Crown Sport has often been likened to a budget Ferrari Purosangue from Japan, owing to certain similarities in exterior design. Consequently, this fictional render could be the closest approximation to a rally-spec Purosangue lookalike we might ever lay eyes on.

If Toyota were to produce a GR Crown Sport, the aggressive aerodynamics would undoubtedly accompany a more track-focused chassis setup and a more potent engine. Presently, the most powerful powertrain option available for the Toyota Crown Sport in Japan is the PHEV, delivering 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) along with a standard E-Four electric 4WD system.

It remains to be seen if any models from the expanded Crown series will ever receive the GR emblem, and which markets will have the privilege of enjoying them.
