Oops! This Is The New Rimac You Weren’t Supposed To See Yet

Key Takeaways

  • Rimac wiped social media to unveil a new vision, teasing a new hypercar.
  • Founder hinted at potential non-electric model, but this is unlikely at this point.
  • Signs point to an even more hardcore version of the Nevera with a track focus.

Rimac Automobili recently wiped out all of its social media posts, which is something that a brand usually only does when things are going very well or very badly. Either way, the decision always signifies the start of something new, and for Rimac, that something new is teased as “a new vision” and “the next big thing.” The Rimac Automobili website shows a pixelated image with more than 40,000 pixels still to be revealed at the time of writing, and every comment on Rimac’s social media posts, as well as every share of the post to individual feeds, will reveal another pixel, according to the automaker.

However, if you simply look at the background code of the page, the supercar’s bird’s eye view is clearly revealed, and there’s no doubt we’re looking at a higher-downforce version of the company’s record-breaking electric hypercar – a Nevariant, if you will.

A Track-Focused Nevera, Or Something Else?

There has been some speculation on forums and particularly on Rimac’s social media channels, with many taking company founder and CEO Mate Rimac’s recent words about how hypercar buyers are shunning electrification to heart; back in May, the Bugatti Rimac boss suggested that the next Rimac might not be electric. He also said, “Rimac isn’t exclusively electric; it’s doing whatever is most exciting at the time,” adding that liquid petroleum gas, hydrogen, and even diesel could fuel future offerings.

Those comments were made in May, and it seems unlikely that Rimac will have converted what is quite clearly a Nevera into a different beast powered by alternative fuels or even hybridization without drastically altering the styling. The Rimac-supported Verne autonomous hatchback has its own distinctive style because that shape and design are fit for that purpose; we doubt Mr. Mate would allow compromise on any product, particularly not one that bears his name.

All The Signs Point To More Capable Nevera Time Attack

At last year’s Monterey Car Week, Rimac announced a Nürburgring record and a new 12-unit, sold-out Nevera special edition called the Nevera Time Attack, and we believe that an even more hardcore version of this hypercar is what will soon be unveiled – Nevera Nür has a nice ring to it. It appears that the new version may have even more downforce, thanks to endplates being added to the rear wing. Presumably, some other aero optimizations will have been made at the front to keep the downforce balanced.

What’s The Difference Between A Spoiler And A Wing?

Have you ever wondered whether you could use the terms “spoiler” and “wing” interchangeably? You can’t, and here’s why.

Although the social media campaign suggests that the reveal could take place randomly, this year’s edition of the best car show in the world is fast approaching, and the timing is unlikely to be coincidental. Not only do we expect to see a new take on the Croatian EV in a high-downforce configuration, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Rimac were to announce another record. After all, conditions during the last attempt were far from ideal, and Rimac could have gone even quicker. Either way, we’ll be hitting refresh on the teaser page for the foreseeable future so that we can bring you the full details as soon as they’re made public.
