RML Group Celebrates 40 Years With Four Sweet Surprises

Key Takeaways

  • RML is celebrating 40 years with four new vehicles, each representing a decade of its history.
  • There’s a Porsche 911 codenamed P39, which is inspired by Le Mans hypercars with the speed and handling of a track vehicle.
  • There’s also a P40 Porsche, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and the VarEVolt for some electrificed performance.

RML (Ray Mallock Limited) is celebrating 40 years of building incredible cars with four special projects that anyone would be happy to receive as a birthday present. There’s a little something for everyone, from a Porsche 911 to an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, all of which boast serious enhancements that make them the performance cars of your dreams. Just look at the company’s Ferrari 250 restomod for proof of the company’s ambition.

RML Group

The RML Group, formally registered as Ray Mallock Ltd., is a high-performance engineering and motorsports outfit based in Wellingborough in the United Kingdom. Founder Ray Mallock was a racing driver who helped take a privately-run Aston Martin-powered Group C racer to World Endurance Championship victory for three consecutive years from 1982-1984 before moving on to C2 class cars, with which he won in 1986. Since then, the company has helped create the Saleen S7, prepared Le Mans programs for OEMs, and more, but RML is also involved in concept car design, racecar replica builds, road-legal track toys, and its own restomods, such as the Short Wheelbase.

First on the list is a Porsche 911 with the codename P39. Anytime a company codenames a car, you know it’s going to be good. RML says this one was inspired by Le Mans hypercars, so its handling and its speed will far exceed the usual. The company expects that the upgrades given to the P39 will work with the entire range so you can kit out whatever 911 you happen to own. Customers will also have the ability to pick and choose exactly which modifications they want to create only as much performance as they can handle and afford.

Take Your Pick Of Track Cars

There’s also the P40, which is slated to be an all-new track car. The company says this one will use F1 aero technology to deliver the speed and handling you want in a track car. Those claims are likely something RML can achieve since it has such a long history of building incredible performance cars, especially for Le Mans competition, but also the Saleen S7 supercar and the one-off Nismo-tuned Micra R.

The next car on RML’s list comes from the RML Bespoke department and is something that might be a little more realistic for the everyday driver as opposed to the track fiend. This car is based on the original Aston Martin V8 Vantage but with a full carbon fiber body. RML describes it as a SuperClassic – a restomod with less weight and modern mechanical components. Rather than something targeting track performance, this one is for leisurely drives. Still, as a grand tourer, RML promises plenty of performance along with all the comforts you want for a leisurely afternoon.

There’s Even An Electrified Option

The final car on the list comes from the RML Power team. This one is called the VarEVolt battery module. That’s not exactly a name that rolls right off the tongue, but it does tell you that it’s the one to pick if you’re all about electrification. We don’t have a lot of details on this one, but whatever it is powered a current Festival of Speed record holder – the Ford Supertruck, perhaps? – and has proved its mettle at the Nürburgring. Everyone place your bets as to what this one will be when it’s fully revealed.

A rigorous testing program aims to guarantee outstanding quality and overall excellence.

“RML Group has achieved an enormous amount in the previous 40 years, we are still focused squarely on the future as these product launches show. I am excited to bring all of these new high-performance products to market. They are just the beginning of a long product pipeline for us. I look forward to sharing more details on each soon,” said company CEO Michael Mallock. Although these are the kinds of cars most of us could never afford and can only look at longingly, they’re still incredible vehicles, and we can always hope one will magically show up in our driveways with a giant bow to celebrate our own birthday one year.
