Lotus Thinks Americans Will Pay Double For This Eletre Special Edition

British automaker Lotus has announced the arrival of a new Eletre variant called the Carbon, exclusively for the North American market. The new model is described as the most dynamic and highest-performing version of the Eletre and receives special touches that push the SUV even further upmarket. The standard Eletre was unveiled back in 2022 and carries a starting price of $107,000, but this one is more than double that.

Lotus has tapped Bridge of Weir for assistance with the leather upholstery. Inside, you’ll find supple hide, available in black, light gray, or dark brown. The automaker says the leather is low carbon, ideal in an emissions-free electric vehicle. Aside from that, the plush upholstery receives a classy quilting design that creates a “dynamic, sculptural effect” that is said to complement the Eletre’s sleek design. The leather has been paired with carbon fiber decorative inlays and a charcoal Alcantara/carbon fiber steering wheel.

Plenty Of Options To Choose From, But Loads Of Standard Luxuries Are Included

Eight Exterior Colors Are Available

  • Akoya White
  • Blossom Gray
  • Cinnabar Red
  • Galloway Green
  • Kaimu Gray
  • Solar Yellow
  • Stardust (satin, optional)
  • Stellar Black

Of course, luxury is an important aspect of the Eletre Carbon. It boasts myriad features, including ambient lighting, soft-close doors, a panoramic glass roof, and five massage modes for the seats (standard front, optional rear). The interior also boasts multiple configurable screens including a 15.1-inch touchscreen display and a KEF sound system. Aside from the new Eletre Carbon, Lotus has announced that customers will be able to customize the luxury electric SUV through the Lotus Chapman Bespoke service, similar to its Advanced Performance division.

High Horsepower, High Price

Aside from the satin paint finish, other options include 10-piston carbon ceramic calipers with larger discs front and rear. The Eletre Carbon is incredibly powerful, boasting 905 horsepower. This allows it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.95 seconds before reaching a top speed of 165 mph. The Eletre Carbon has a 111.9 kWh battery pack that provides a range of 280 miles.

Soon to be offered in North America, the exclusive division will offer owners the opportunity to personalize their cars with custom badges and trims, as well as “one-off personalization.” Clients can now place an order for their unique Eletre, with the first North American units expected to arrive from Q1 2025 onwards. As for pricing, the Eletre retails for $229,900, making it considerably more expensive than the standard Eletre models.
