Stellantis Launches Leapmotor T03 Urban EV And C10 SUV In Europe At Competitive Prices

  • Chinese automaker Leapmotor brings its first EVs to Europe with the help of Stellantis.
  • Pricing starts from €18,900 for the T03 hatchback and from €36,400 for the larger C10 SUV.
  • Leapmotor will expand its lineup by launching a new EV every year over the next 3 years.

Europe might be experiencing a lower-than-expected demand for EVs, but Stellantis and Chinese automaker Leapmotor have just launched two new EVs – the T03 hatchback and the C10 SUV.

A few months after the official announcement of Stellantis bringing Leapmotor to European markets, the company revealed pricing for its first two EVs. The urban dweller starts from €18,900 ($21,060), while the SUV is priced from €36,400 ($40,560). According to the company, the starting prices are indicative and may vary depending on the market.

The Leapmotor T03 is not actually a new model, as it was originally introduced in China back in 2020. In Europe, the EV will rival the likes of the Dacia Spring, Citroen e-C3, and Fiat Panda, all expected to be priced under the psychological barrier of €20k ($22k) in their entry-level guise. Despite its Chinese origins, the Leapmotor T03 will be manufactured in Stellantis’ Tychy plant in Poland.

The 3,620 mm (142.5 inches) long T03 is powered by a single electric motor producing 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) and 158 Nm (116.5 lb-ft) of torque. The EU-spec version of the EV is fitted with a 37.3 kWh battery pack, allowing a WLTP range of 265 km (165 miles) between charges.

Standard equipment in the single available trim includes an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, a rearview camera, and plenty of ADAS.

The Leapmotor C10 is newer, as it was originally introduced in 2023. Measuring 4,740 mm (186.6 inches) long, it has a similar footprint to the Tesla Model Y. Despite the import tax due to being manufactured in China, the T03 is still considered affordable for its size, specs, and features.

The SUV is powered by a single electric motor producing 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. Stellantis claims the 69.9 kWh battery is good for up to 420 km (261 miles) of WLTP range in the mixed cycle.

At launch, Stellantis will offer two different trims, called Style and Design. Equipment includes a digital cockpit comprising 10.25-inch and 14.6-inch displays, wireless charging, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, sustainable materials for the upholstery, and up to 17 ADAS offering Level 2 autonomy.

The first deliveries of the Polish-made Leapmotor T03 hatchback in Europe will begin before the end of September, while the first units of the Chinese-built Leapmotor C10 SUV will follow in mid-October. The automaker plans to roll out a new model each year over the next three years, expanding its European lineup.

Leapmotor EVs will be available in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK before the end of 2024. The European rollout will be followed by an expansion to the Middle East (Israel and overseas French territories), Africa, Asia Pacific (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia), and South America (Brazil and Chile).
