Tesla Cybertruck Gets The One Thing Customers Have Been Waiting For

The Tesla Cybertruck has finally received the update owners and fans have been waiting for, with the automaker rolling out Full Self-Driving for the battery-powered pickup, reports Not A Tesla App. Per the publication, the update is currently available to Early Access Testers and Tesla employees, with a full roll-out expected at a later date.

FSD 12.5.5 lets certain Cybertruck owners enjoy all the benefits of Full-Self Driving, which have long been available on Tesla’s other models. According to the release notes, the latest update for the Cybertruck also receives an end-to-end highway stack and vision-based driver attention monitoring (with sunglasses).

First Of Many Upgrades Coming To The Cybertruck

As mentioned, this is an early release for Early Access owners and Tesla employees, with the release notes including the usual warnings: “You and anyone you authorize must use additional caution and remain attentive. It does not make your vehicle autonomous. Do not become complacent.”

It’s worth noting that additional upgrades have been coming to the Cybertruck in recent months. For some time, the electric truck has been without advanced driver assistance features, but it seems that customers won’t have to wait much longer.

Upcoming Improvements

  • Introduction of speed profile
  • Improved performance in parking lots
  • Improved performance at intersections and stops
  • Earlier and more natural lane change decisions

Making The Cybertruck A More Appealing Package

The introduction of the Full-Self Driving package will undoubtedly bolster the appeal of Tesla’s electric truck. Whereas the Ford F-150 Lightning is available with BlueCruise technology, and Rivian has its Driver+ system, the Cybertruck has lagged in this area. Once FSD reaches most customers, Tesla’s truck will have more appeal than before and will justify the hefty price tag.

Currently, the only Cybertruck available for immediate delivery is the Foundation Series model which includes supervised Full Self-Driving and several other unique luxuries. It’s worth noting that the All-Wheel Drive model costs $93,990 and can be delivered between September and October 2024. The $113,990 Cyberbeast has an estimated delivery date between September and December 2024. Recently, Tesla introduced the Actually Smart Summon update, making it easier for customers to find their cars in crowded parking lots.
