Toyota Ditches 2025 Mirai Limited Trim And Hikes Prices

  • Toyota is streamlining its Mirai sedan lineup and eliminating the Limited trim.
  • The model is now offered exclusively in XLE guise, which gains new equipment.
  • Pricing climbs $1,605 to $51,795 and customers get $15,000 worth of hydrogen.

The Toyota Mirai has always been something of a curiosity as it’s a luxurious fuel cell sedan. However, it’s getting a little less glamorous as the company is dropping the range-topping Limited trim for 2025.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {

} else {

}
});

Toyota didn’t give an explanation for the change, but the model will now be offered exclusively in XLE guise. However, it’s not all bad news as the company decided to throw in some additional standard equipment to keep customers happy.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much to get excited about as extras include heated exterior mirrors, digital key technology, and a Panoramic View Monitor. Customers will also find front footwell illumination as well as front and rear parking assist with automatic braking.

Besides the aforementioned items, the Mirai comes equipped with LED lighting units and 19-inch aluminum wheels. They’re joined by heated SofTex front seats, dual 12.3-inch displays, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driver assistance systems is standard and includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. There’s also Road Sign Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The Mirai rides on the GA-L platform and features three hydrogen storage tanks, a fuel cell, a 1.24 kWh battery pack, and a 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) electric motor that powers the rear wheels. Thanks to this combination of science and witchcraft, the car can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 9.2 seconds and travel an EPA estimated 402 miles (647 km) between fill ups.

Pricing starts at $51,795 before a $1,095 destination fee. That’s an increase of $1,605 but it can largely be explained by the extra equipment.

The Mirai is available exclusively in California and customers will get $15,000 worth of complimentary hydrogen fuel. The model also comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on key fuel cell components as well as a “complimentary rental experience.” The latter provides owners with up to 21 days of a rental car, which can be used to travel to areas where hydrogen refueling infrastructure is non-existent.
