Lamborghini has had a record-breaking 2024 in terms of sales and most importantly, profit. That’s all thanks to the automaker’s strong lineup, including the ever-popular Urus. However, if you expect the Italian marque to leverage the popularity of the Raging Bull SUV and introduce another high-riding model to sit right next to the Urus in the range, you’d be disappointed.
Lamborghini has ruled out introducing another SUV – be it smaller or bigger than the Urus. This confirmation came from Federico Foschini, Lamborghini chief marketing and sales officer, who spoke to Australia’s carsales about the future of the automaker’s lineup. Diluting the automaker’s offerings with another SUV isn’t a path for the brand, and there are good reasons for that.
The Idea Doesn’t Fit Lamborghini’s DNA
According to Foschini, a bigger or smaller SUV won’t fit Lamborghini’s DNA of performance and exclusivity. A larger SUV would be too bulky to be sporty, and something that’s reserved for the rest of the brands under the Volkswagen Group. A more modest-sized SUV, meanwhile, would not be up to par with Lamborghini’s premium positioning, which is not to “offer something that is under-resourced.”

That said, it’s now cemented that Lamborghini will have a four-pronged offering in the foreseeable future: the Revuelto electrified V12 flagship, the Temerario Huracán replacement, the Urus SE plug-in hybrid SUV, and the electric GT 2+2 previewed by the Lanzador. The latter has been delayed to arrive by the end of the decade as its market won’t be ready until then.
The Sweet Spot In Terms Of Size
Foschini went on to laud the Urus as an ideal Lamborghini SUV. “The Urus is the perfect fit, on one side as the right size to be an SUV because there is space for four or five people comfortably with also the luggage of an SUV. But on the other side, there’s the dimension and the driving dynamic and the driving experience of a super sports car. This is the size and this is the sweet spot,” he said.

And we’re sure fans and owners will agree. The Urus has been a consistent bestseller ever since its arrival on the market in 2018. Even being electrified in its latest form, the Urus SE, the nameplate continues to rake cash for the brand. In fact, the plug-in hybrid SUV is so popular, it’s currently sold out until next year.
