Watch What’s Probably The New BMW M2 CS Shred The ‘Ring

Recent teases from BMW have us convinced the German automaker is about to unleash an all-new M2 CS sports coupe on the world next month at Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The only thing that has us doubtful at this point is the fact that the car is still apparently development testing on the famed German Nürburgring race track. Based on recent spy video captured there, it seems there are some final kinks to be worked out before production begins.

The spy video from the ‘Ring appears to show two development prototypes of some sort of modified BMW 2 Series, clearly expanding upon the M2 performance trim based on the bodywork. That leads us to be pretty sure we’re looking at the new M2 CS, which is expected to debut at next month’s 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy.

BMW M2 Prototype Design Details

The cars in the video sport a chiseled front end with a new spoiler lip, maybe modified fenders, and a ducktail spoiler at the rear end. The car is anticipated to retain a rear-wheel drive layout, with all-wheel drive rumored to be destined for an upcoming xDrive model later. The CS is also expected to get carbon fiber paneling and interior bits, unique colorways inside and out, new wheels, and possibly yellow-tinted DRLs, as is the CS style.

5 Key Differences Between The 2024 And 2025 BMW M2

Here are five key differences between the 2025 BMW M2 and the outgoing 2024 BMW M2.

New BMW M2 CS Versus Old

The previous-generation BMW M2 CS trim made 444 hp, but the newly-refreshed second-gen M2 already bests that with 473 hp on tap. The new M2 CS for this generation is expected to produce more than 520 hp from its twin-turbo inline-six engine, while connected exclusively to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with no stick-shift option. BMW Blog previously reported it will shed around 66 pounds of weight over the standard M2.

We’ll see it this summer.

Velvet Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Sapphire Black paint colors have been reported as well, with black or bronze alloy wheel options also likely to be available. Some form of carbon bucket seat is likely to be fitted. We’ll have to wait and see whether they’re the same seats as the standard M2’s optional Carbon Package seating.

Limited BMW M2 CS Production?

Production is expected to be limited to around a year or likely less than 2,000 vehicles ultimately produced. That follows the standard practice BMW has followed for the M3 CS, M3 CS Touring, and M4 CS models as well. Roll on to watch the ‘Ring video, and roll on next month for the debut.
