BMW’s Smallest M Car Is About To Become One Of Its Quickest

A reliable leaker on the BMW forums has posted a claimed 0-62 mph acceleration time for the new BMW M2 CS model expected to arrive this summer, and it should impress even other CS owners with how quick it’ll be. The leaks also reveal more interesting details about BMW’s upcoming lineup.

BMW M2 CS Performance Details

The list of alleged updates coming to the BMW lineup comes from the BimmerPost forum threads, where this user has been leaking details of models for at least the past few years. It will max out at a top speed of 188 mph, and get from 0-62 mph in an estimated 3.8 seconds with 525 horsepower from a twin-turbo inline-six gas engine. That’s a tenth of a second quicker on paper than the current M4 Competition.

Body details from recent ‘Ring trips show off a slight ducktail trunk spoiler and a more chiseled front end. The leak claims the coming M2 CS will drop around 66 lbs of weight and drop the suspension by 8 millimeters when compared to the normal M2.

The German sports coupe takes to the notorious German track for what’s probably the final swings of development testing for the new BMW M2 CS.

Some of those weight savings will come from carbon fiber pieces, including the roof panel. Rear-wheel drive and an automatic transmission will be standard, with no plans for an xDrive CS specifically, but there will likely be an M2 xDrive soon, as well. Expect an Alcántara steering wheel, bucket seats, and full black or black and red leather interiors, with BMW Individual’s choice of exterior paint. The M2 CS is expected to get the signature yellow CS running lights already, as well, and likely bronze and black wheel options.

When Will We See More Of The New M2 CS?

BMW’s Classic department has sponsored the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Lake Como for the past two decades, and it has taken that event to show off new concepts and new vehicles. That’s where the automaker is expected to reveal the new M2 CS next month (May 23-25 is when the event runs), along with another mysterious new model. Production was previously reported to be limited to just 2,000 units.

More details on the littlest CS model will surely follow soon, but it’s not the only new arrival we can look forward to. Other new details coming to the BMW lineup, according to the leaker’s post, include new headlights with “distinctive color elements” on M Sport models, plus a new range of Alpina-tuned and trimmed 7 Series cars with their own internal platform code of G72.
