Key Takeaways
- Global Conversions converted the GMC Hummer EV to righthand-drive, opening possibilities for conversions worldwide.
- The company has 78 years of experience in vehicle conversions and aims to complete each build in 27 days.
- This conversion creates new opportunities for clients in 77 RHD countries and offers conversions for various other vehicles.
The GMC Hummer EV siblings are a technological riot thanks to their absurd Watts To Freedom mode and entertaining CrabWalk modes, and although we’ve been able to enjoy them here in the US for the past year or so, other parts of the world have been left out due to the American-made machine’s left-hand drive nature. Well, no longer, as Global Conversions has become the first company to officially convert a Hummer EV SUV to right-hand drive, opening up the market for many other conversions in the future.
Interestingly, recent reports indicate the 2025 GMC Yukon will get a conversion to RHD for the Australian market. Although EVs are a slightly different kettle of fish, and the UAE market (where this Hummer is headed) is hardly typical of all regions, it creates a swell of patriotic pride to know that American SUVs are in demand the world over.
Secretive Conversion Process
It all starts with 78 years of collective experience converting vehicles. Global Conversions was a bit mum on the details regarding the exact conversion process but did say it aims to complete the entire build in a mere 27 days.
This means the company only needs to create a mirrored dashboard and ensure all the electronics line up with the center console, peddles, and steering wheel.

New Ferrari Cockpit Lets You Switch Between LHD, RHD, And Central Seating As You Please
Ferrari’s latest patent shows how a supercar could realize customizable driver controls capable of moving all around the cockpit.
Some time and money have to be saved somewhere, though, so you will have to reach across the touchscreen to change the volume or turn the system off and on. Perhaps one day, Hyundai’s sliding driving controls patent could make this simpler. Still, it’s a small price to pay for having one of the only RHD Hummer EVs on the planet.
The Market For Conversions
Handing over the keys to its first client this week, the company has opened up an entirely new opportunity for itself in 77 RHD countries. Given the vehicle’s size and considerable price, GMC thought it best to keep the vehicle LHD only, and given the tooling, design, and supplier costs associated with developing a car for both configurations, a game of percentages was played, and now Global Conversions is aiming to capture some of that untouched market.
Looking at the pictures, the conversion really does look like it came straight from the factory, so we don’t think it will have any issues finding an ever-increasing number of clients. Pricing hasn’t been revealed, but rest assured, it’s crazy expensive.
