Ferrari 812 Successor Spied With 10,000-RPM Redline

Key Takeaways

  • Ferrari 812 successor spy shots suggest a redline close to 10k rpm, possibly surpassing 9,500 rpm of Competizione.
  • New model set for Maimi GP debut with V12 engine, likely electrified.
  • Ferrari to release three new models this year, including LaFerrari successor with over 1,000 horsepower.

The Ferrari 812 successor was just caught conducting some night testing, and thanks to some interior shots, we know the model is going to have a redline of almost 10,000 rpm. Caught by Derek Cornelissen, the dark image shows a digital gauge cluster in the same vein as the current 812’s half-digital/half-analog setup with the tachometer topping out at a red 10,000 rpm.

It’s hard to completely make out how far below the 10 the redline stops, but we imagine the new vehicle should top out at or above the 9,500 rpm redline of the track-focused 812 Competizione. From the images, you can’t really make out too much more of the interior of the car, but from other spy photos we’ve seen we know the model is very close to production-ready, and it should be, as we’re eyeing a possible Miami GP debut.

10,000 RPM Would Be Music To Our Ears

Rumors right now are all over the place, with some saying the F167, as the 812 successor is internally known, will make use of the previous 6.5-liter V12 with some added electric motivation, and others saying the vehicle will instead utilize a new engine that will hold onto natural aspiration. Either way, it seems certain that turbocharging will continue to be avoided, which is literal music to our ears.

Ferrari Develops New Exhaust System With Active Aerodynamic Functionality

Ferrari has patented a way around noise laws without compromising emissions, specifically for its V8. Better still, it has an aerodynamic benefit.

What we know is to expect power to arrive north of the 812 Competizione’s 819 horses, and given that the electrified V12 in the Lamborghini Revuelto generates four figures of horsepower, it’s quite possible that Maranello may look to catapult the F167 into the same territory. Again, nothing is confirmed yet, so we must wait for an official unveiling.

One Of Three New Ferrari Models Released This Year

Hopefully, the model does debut in the next few weeks, because despite all of the spy photos we’ve seen of it over the last year, the company has done an incredible job of keeping the looks under wraps. But the basic formula will be the same, so expect the greenhouse and decklid to take up one-half of the car while the massive fenders and hood take up the other half.

It’s also been an open secret that the company is working on a LaFerrari successor, with the test mules spotted all around its factory in various states of unfinished. Its engine is unconfirmed at this time, as the clips of the car have given us mixed signals about how many cylinders it will have. What we do know is it will make north of 1,000 horsepower from a hybrid powertrain, with it most likely being a PHEV. If recent trademarks are anything to go by, the name could be La Rossa, Drake, or F80. Finally, we believe the company could be cooking up a special 296, perhaps called the Speciale or Mugello.
