America’s Next Great Hypercar Is Almost Ready To Hit The Streets

The wait for the Czinger 21C has been a long one, but CarBuzz has now been informed that the first customer cars will start being delivered later this year. Speaking with a company representative, we were informed that “Czinger is weeks away from completing the new production facility ‘Area 21’ in Torrance, CA, where the 21C will begin production. The first customer deliveries are planned for this summer.”

Unveiled in 2020, the outrageous, homegrown US hypercar was inspired by another hardcore homegrown icon: The famed SR-71 Blackbird long-range bomber, and has had us dreaming of its debut ever since we laid eyes on it. The LA-based company has been teasing us over the years with road testing and frequent news drops, but soon customers will be able to feel the power of its bespoke hybrid powertrain.

Few US-produced cars have truly attained the level of hypercar. The Hennessey Venom F5 is one, and the Ford GT was another, but for a country so obsessed with power and speed, we’ve been severely slacking on the halo-car front. Czinger plans on changing this once the 21C makes it into customers’ hands, and we have a feeling it will rival Europe’s finest.

The company claims the vehicle is the “world’s first human-AI designed and 3D printed hypercar” and the ultimate road and track weapon. The exterior is typical hypercar fare, meaning it’s a bespoke piece of rolling art, but once you get past the drop-dead good looks, you’re greeted with fighter-jet 1+1 seating and a powertrain that would have had our ancestors shed a tear in disbelief.

At its core is a mid-mounted flat-plane crank V8 with a displacement of a mere 2.88 liters. Two turbochargers have been affixed, allowing the engine to produce stupid amounts of power to the absolutely stratospheric 11,000 rpm redline. How much power? Well, that’s complicated by the fact the engine is paired with an electric motor on both front wheels, but when you take everything into account, you’re left with a staggering 1,250 horsepower with 1,350 horsepower attainable if the buyer opts for the widebody option.

With the curb weight coming in at a mere 2,756 lbs and power going to all four wheels, the company says the vehicle can sprint from 0-62 mph in just 1.9 seconds, with the quarter mile in 8.1 seconds. The hypercar will hit 186 mph in just 15 seconds, and 0- 248 mph – 0 will happen in 29 seconds. Awe-inspiring numbers.

Limited Run, Unlimited Potential

The company unveiled an initial run of 80 vehicles that are surely sold out, especially after Czinger announced limited-edition models to keep buyers chomping at the bit. The factory being completed and the first cars being delivered will be the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, but the influx of cash means the company can soon start looking forward to the future.
