Highly-Limited Bentley Bentayga S Apex Edition Gets Carbon Brakes And Wheels

Bentley has revealed a new special edition Bentayga called the Apex Edition. Limited to just 20 units, Mulliner has injected some sportiness into the high-end luxury SUV with special touches, exterior accessories, and interior finishes. Bentley and its high-end bespoke department, Mulliner, have based the Apex Edition on the Bentayga S, the raciest of all the models. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that develops 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. Bentley claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph.

In keeping with the performance capabilities, the Apex Edition is equipped with 22-inch Mulliner carbon wheels designed specifically for use on the Bentayga. Together, they save 52.9 lbs of unsprung mass. As a result, Bentley says the Apex Edition is more agile, while braking performance has been improved, too. Tire wear is also reduced due to the lighter wheels.

Upgraded Brakes And Aero Improvements

Living behind the wheels are Carbon-Silicon-Carbide (CSiC) brake discs. They’re more than 44 lbs lighter than the standard iron disc brakes and have been designed to withstand temperatures up to 1,832 degrees Fahrenheit. Moving on to the exterior, the Bentayga Apex Edition receives various aerodynamically enhanced components, including sportier front and rear spoilers, side mirror caps, and sills in a chic satin carbon fiber finish. There are also carbon fiber Apex Edition badges on the D-pillar.

As for interior specification, the Apex Edition receives satin carbon fiber interior inlays on the center console, doors, and fascia. There is also a Naim for Bentley sound system, the five-seat Comfort Specification, and several advanced driver assistance systems that form part of the Touring specification. Special blind seat embroidery with contrasting Bentley emblems and Apex Edition finishes on the treadplates and waistrails are also part of the package.

Six Mulliner Themes To Choose From

Customers can choose from six Mulliner themes. Pictured here is Candy Red satin with Anthracite and Artic White strips. This is matched with Arctic White and Hotspot leather with contrast stitching and seat piping. The second theme receives Anthracite paintwork with gloss black striping, while the interior benefits from Mandarin leather paired with Beluga secondary hide. The third theme is more vibrant, with an Orange Flame exterior finish. A leather interior combo of Linen and Newmarket Tan has been paired with Charcoal accent hide for the center console, steering wheel, stitching, and seat wings.

The fourth design theme is more traditional, with an Alpine Green exterior finish paired with an orange pinstripe. The interior receives a tasteful Portland/Cumbrian Green interior with unusual accents of orange for the seat piping, veneer edging, steering wheel, and contrast stitching. The fifth theme uses Pale Brodgar (champagne) paintwork with Linen and Porpoise hide and Bacalar Bronze contrast piping and console accent finishes. Finally, there’s an Extreme Silver finish with a Beluga stripe on the hood and roof. Vivid Signal Yellow pinstripes complete the exterior look. The color is also used for the main hide with a Beluga secondary finish.

Just 20 Examples Will Be Made

As expected, Bentley has not released pricing for the Bentayga S Apex Edition. However, the automaker has encouraged owners to use the six ‘proposals’ as inspiration, using Mulliner’s expertise to personalize these exclusive machines further. Not just anyone can get their hands on an Apex Edition, with all 20 models limited to owners of the Continental GT and GTC Le Mans Editions.
