Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced a new accessory package the T7 VW Multivan, an ICE-powered minivan that isn’t offered in the United States. The Good Night package is aimed at adventurers and frequent campers who want the comfort and convenience of a camper van but none of the cost.
Two versions of the package are being offered. With the ‘basic’ version, customers receive a fold-out bed, storage solutions for the curtains, black-out window shades (even for the panoramic sunroof), and ventilation grilles for the front side windows. The complete package adds a pair of folding chairs and a camping table.
Perfect For Camping Excursions
The fold-out bed has been specially designed for the Multivan. It measures 79.5 inches long and 47.6 inches wide, sufficient space for two adults to sleep comfortably. The mattress sits on a slatted frame that connects to the body, not the seats. This makes fitting the bed in the rear easier, simply requiring the seats to be folded flat. Alternatively, the rear seats can also be removed.

Under the bed, Volkswagen has utilized the space for maximum storage, making the Multivan even more practical. While the Good Night package is perfect for a weekend camping trip or a music festival, the automaker says it’s also ideal for surfers, with plenty of storage space beneath the bed for a surfboard. It’s not quite as posh as the Mercedes camper van, but it’s still cool.
How Much Does It Cost?
The curtains quickly attach to the windows with integrated magnets or plastic tabs, preventing those with prying eyes from peeking into your home away from home. If your Multivan has the optional panoramic sunroof, customers can choose to sleep under the stars or cover the glass up for more privacy. Once the weekend festivities have come to an end, the bed can be folded away with ease. It can be stowed away behind the second row or above the third row of seats (when folded flat).
Should you require the use of all seats, the bed can also be removed. As for the price, VW says the Good Night package will set buyers back €2,867.90 ($3,086) or €3,355.80 ($3,611) if you want the fold-out table and chairs. The package is available for all Multivan variants, regardless of the trim or seating configuration. With any luck, Volkswagen will develop a similar option for the ID. Buzz when it reaches US dealers later this year.
