Is This The Final Cadillac Escalade-V Before EVs Take Over?

Key Takeaways

  • Updated Cadillac Escalade-V styling hints spotted on undisguised prototype.
  • Escalade-V will retain supercharged V8 engine.
  • Debut expected within the next month.

Cadillac has been spied testing the facelifted Escalade-V undisguised near the Millbrook Proving Grounds in England, with the prototype displaying its lightly updated looks with no fear of photography. From a distance, it’s difficult to see the changes, thanks in part to the glossy black paint, but look closely, and it becomes clear that the combustion-powered high-performance SUV is evolving to look more like its electric stablemates, next year’s Escalade IQ and the 2026 Vistiq. That’s no bad thing in our book, so let’s dig in.

Styling Suggests Electrification…

Fear not – our spies say that the updated SUV will retain its raucous engine and that we can expect all to be revealed “in the next month or so.” At the front, the lower spoiler and grille appear similar to the current model, although the intakes at either end of this lower intake are larger and more square. More obviously, the headlights are much slimmer and are now sited closer to the DRLs, to which they may be connected. Notably, the unsightly shark fin aerial has been slimmed down, but it’s still an eyesore.

At the rear, the strakes in the diffuser trim panel look softer and less aggressive. The taillights have narrower vertical side reflectors, and the rear-facing graphics may have been updated slightly, too. That being said, there may be some black cladding on both the front and rear lighting units, disguising their true design. If this is how EVs influence V8-powered vehicles, we’re not complaining.

…But Cadillac Is Keeping Engines Alive

Since Cadillac has decided to stick with ICE for the foreseeable future, albeit alongside the EVs it has already announced, this is no longer a transitionary styling change meant to signify a move towards BEV-exclusive power. Cadillac says that it will listen to customer demands, and buyers of the Escalade-V certainly consider the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 as the deciding factor in their purchase. With 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels (and extremely loud noises sent to all nearby eardrums), there aren’t many things not to love about this super SUV, and as far as we know for now, no deeper updates are expected, but we know how easy it is to get more power out of this mill.
