Porsche North America has announced a new partnership with ChargePoint, which aims to make life that bit easier for owners of Porsche electric vehicles, such as the Taycan, the all-new Macan EV, and plug-in hybrids. The German automaker says the collaboration will bring the number of chargers available to Porsche owners to more than 86,000 locations across the US.
The ChargePoint charging sites will become available to customers from Q4 2024. This doesn’t mean that Porsche is no longer working with Electrify America. Instead, the new partnership with ChargePoint bolsters the existing integration. As a result, the manufacturer claims that Porsche Charging Service Customers will have access to more than 75% of J1772 and CCS1 charging ports nationwide.
Could Drum Up Porsche EV Sales
Porsche drivers can locate EV chargers via the MyPorsche app, which customers can also use to pay for their charging session. A lack of charging infrastructure remains one of the hindrances to electric vehicle ownership, with many potential buyers put off by the lack of reliable charging locations. Adding more chargers to the Porsche network makes life much better for existing owners but could also encourage buyers to take the plunge and buy an electrified car.

And it will only get better. In December 2023, Volkswagen, Audi, Scout, and Porsche announced they would adopt the NACS charging port popularized by Tesla. Almost every automaker – including Tesla arch-rival Lucid – has made the move. From 2025, Porsche customers can charge their vehicles at the expansive Supercharger network, which has over 2,200 stations and 25,000+ charging ports in America alone.
“We passionately believe in choice, and as a result, we are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance our customer experience and expand charging options. This is a significant step in that direction and well-timed as we look forward to the arrival of both the new Taycan arriving at Porsche Centers this summer [and] also the all-new Macan Electric later this year.”

Porsche Constantly Looking For New Charging Solutions
In Germany, Porsche has launched an upmarket Charging Lounge, which turns everything up to 11. While your Taycan replenishes its battery, you’re invited into a sleek and modern lounge that boasts workspaces, high-speed Wi-Fi, snacks, and a selection of “digital and physical media” to keep you entertained. Hopefully, this service will reach our shores, as it sounds brilliant.
