Tesla Teased 3 Mystery Models, Let’s Break Them Down

The trio of draped vehicles are likely ones we’ve suspected including Roadster, the Robotaxi, and a people mover

Tesla Teased 3 Mystery Models, Let’s Break Them Down

  • Tesla teased a trio of new models at its 2024 stockholder meeting.
  • One appears to be a van and the other two are likely the Robotaxi and the Roadster.
  • Details are sparse but we expect to see production versions of two more models before 2025.

At Tesla’s annual Cyber Roundup shareholder meeting this week, Elon Musk and the team teased three new models. It’s likely that we already know what two are and the silhouette of the third indicates that it’ll be a people mover. That’s in line with what Tesla has released before and we might see all three before 2025.

Previously, the company has mentioned a van, the Roadster, and the upcoming Robotaxi. These are likely the three covered cars in the slide. In fact, the slide itself might have a hint in it. It specifically said, “The world needs to replace the vehicle fleet with EVs.” Several vehicle fleets consist of delivery vans and rental companies keep a bevy of small commuter cars. Those two segments are ones that Tesla isn’t involved in, yet.

“Obviously, we’ve got some new products we’re working on under the covers,” Musk said. “I think these are going to be pretty special. I think people at first may think, oh, it’s not going to be that amazing, but just wait, it will be.” As is the case with just about anything Musk says, it’s important to take these statements with a grain of sodium.

Despite that, there’s a chance that we’ll see a production version of the Roadster and likely the Robotaxi before the end of the year. Tesla is already planning an event surrounding the latter on August 8th of this year.

It’s unclear if we’ll see a concept or the production version of the car on that date, but Tesla has a habit of producing almost exactly what we see at debuts, at least in terms of shape and design ethos. Whether or not it’ll meet whatever specs come out on that day could be a very different story.

In addition, Musk has publicly stated that a Roadster debut would arrive later this year as well. Production won’t start til 2025 (for now the Tesla boss says), but the product demo is what he claims will be the most mind-blowing of all time.

The team is openly targeting a 0-60 mph time of under 1 second. In fact, it wouldn’t be totally wild for Tesla to debut the van as a cherry on top of the Roadster demo. After all, we first saw the roadster in just such a way at the Semi demonstration back in 2017.
