Some Cool Options On The Chevy Equinox EV Are Missing

Key Takeaways

  • There are missing features on early Equinox EV models.
  • Some owners are looking into aftermarket options for the missing features.
  • The base Equinox EV 1LT trim is slated to arrive later this year.

Chevrolet has already started selling the Equinox EV, and some owners are already taking delivery of their electric crossover. However, some features announced during its launch are missing in the online configurator. And frankly, they are the cool ones to have.

The missing features include a 19.2 kW Level 2 (AC) charging module, a head-up display, a rear camera mirror, a Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad. All were announced when the EV was introduced in 2022 and were supposed to be available as options on the top-spec 3RS and other lower trims. According to the Equinox EV forum, some owners are already looking into aftermarket options for these features, particularly the wireless charging pad and audio system.

Will They Ever Be Available?

In a statement to Inside EVs, Chevrolet confirmed that the features mentioned are missing in the early versions of the Equinox EVs and will arrive later “this calendar year” – all but one. We’re talking about the Bose audio system, which the representative confirmed was dropped completely from the options list.

That means even if you’re gunning for the $46,795 top-spec 3RS trim, you’re relegated to a 6-speaker setup. At least the stock setup satisfies most owners who shared their experiences on the forum. Of note, the discontinued Bolt EUV had a Bose sound system option, as are other Chevrolet models, such as the Blazer (but not the EV).

A truly affordable EV is finally here, and it’s better than the Bolt in a few key ways.

The Waiting Game

Chevrolet didn’t share the reason for the omission of the features. Still, it’s important to note that they’re currently available (except the 19.2 kW charging module and Bose speakers) on the more expensive, other Ultium-based EV in the lineup, the Blazer EV. Then again, as Chevy confirmed, those who really want the head-up display, rear camera mirror, and wireless charging will have to wait until the end of the year.

Another thing to watch out for is the base Equinox EV 1LT, priced at $27,495 after the full $7,500 Clean Vehicle Federal Tax Credit. It’s among the most affordable EVs Americans can buy once it arrives later this year.
