Key Takeaways
- Cybertruck deliveries are paused due to a wiper motor safety issue, causing delays for some owners.
- Not all Cybertrucks are affected; some owners report no windshield wiper problems.
- The issue with the wiper motor is not fixable via OTA updates, similar to previous Cybertruck problems.
Deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck have been paused. One Cybertruck Owners Club forum member posted the news, backed up by other forum members who received messages from Tesla telling them their delivery had been delayed by at least a week.
According to the forum member, the main culprit for the delay was a safety issue with the windshield wiper motor, which Tesla discovered before some deliveries this weekend. The specifics of the motor issue weren’t disclosed in the thread, but some Cybertruck owners have begun sharing the issues they have been experiencing with the wiper motors, with some disclosing the part taking weeks to replace.
Not All Cybertrucks Have The Issue
“I picked up on Tuesday in Florida and left and made it 20 miles and it started pouring raining. Had to sit in a Dunkin Donuts for 3.5 hours and call Tesla roadside assistance because I couldn’t see. They took it to the SC and said it would be a few weeks before the wiper motor could be replaced. Once the rain passed, I took the CT and added some Rainx for now. But it was super dangerous…had to open my window and hang out the window to see until I could get to a safe place with the wiper not working,” forum user Cnod shared in the forum thread.
Not all Cybertruck units delivered to owners have problems, though. Some owners shared that they have already racked up miles in their Tesla trucks without a single problem with the windshield wiper.

Not Something Over-The-Air Updates Can Fix
This isn’t the first issue we’ve reported about the Cybertruck. A few months ago, an issue with the model’s Car Wash Mode was reported, with users reporting that their units became unusable after a standard car wash. Earlier this year, some Cybertrucks were delivered to their owners without the aerodynamic wheel cover. Days later, Tesla recalled 2.2 million EVs, including the Cybertruck, though this one was fixable through over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Then again, this wiper motor issue is something that OTA updates can’t fix – just like the accelerator pedal issue that Tesla had to issue a voluntary recall on.
