New Audi S7 Avant Spied Flaunting Four-Tailpipe Exhaust

  • The current Audi A6’s ICE successor will adopt the A7 nameplate
  • The S7 Avant features a unique grille, quad exhaust tips, and a sportier stance.
  • The prototype might be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The Audi A7 Avant has been a familiar sight as of late and we’re starting to see an assortment of other variants. The A7 Sedan popped up last week and now we’re getting our first look at the S7 Avant.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){

}
else{

} });

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the prototype doesn’t look too remarkable at first glance. However, a closer inspection reveals this isn’t your typical model.

The biggest clue resides out back as the wagon is sporting a four-tailpipe exhaust system with circular tips. They’re a telltale sign of an S variant, as RS models have a massive dual exhaust, while run-of-the-mill variants wear something far tamer.

Additional changes are limited, but the S7 sports a unique grille and a sportier front bumper. The model also appears to have a slightly reduced ride height, which hints at a sport-tuned suspension.

The rest of the design appears to largely carryover from the A7, so it’s not surprising to find streamlined bodywork and sweptback headlights. They’re joined by minimalist door handles and boomerang-shaped taillights.

Little is known about the new A7/S7 lineup at this point, but the model is slated to ride on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, which will also be used to underpin the next-generation A5 and Q5.

Besides the new platform, we can expect an electrified powertrain as the prototype sports a warning sticker on the windshield. This suggests a plug-in hybrid setup, which will be milder than the one found on the upcoming RS7 Avant.

As a refresher, the current S6 Avant has a 3.0-liter TDI V6 with 339 hp (253 kW / 344 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. It enables the wagon to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
