It’s Coming! Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Arrival Date Announced

Key Takeaways

  • Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 reveal date confirmed: July 25.
  • LT7 twin-turbo engine expected to produce over 800 horsepower.
  • Interior unlikely to change, but performance credentials should still woo buyers.

We’ve been waiting for the news of when the next chapter in the Chevrolet Corvette story will be written, and finally, GM has revealed that the Corvette ZR1 will debut next month on Thursday, July 25. As with the previous teasers, all we get is a short clip shared on YouTube, and Chevy still won’t confirm anything we desperately want to know.

This comes after a recent teaser appeared to briefly depict a pair of turbochargers. The same video also gave us a taste of the engine note, and it’s quite shrill despite the apparent forced induction. That’s because, as far as we know, the engine is based on the one we already get in the Corvette Z06.

LT7 Power Plant Expected

All signs point to the ZR1 arriving with a twin-turbocharged version of the 5.5-liter flat plane crank V8 fitted to the Z06. That engine is known as the LT6, and with the addition of two turbos, it is expected to produce in excess of 800 horsepower and adopt the name LT7. Not only has this new engine been captured at the Nürburgring, but a parts catalog leak confirmed the existence of the LT7.

Spy shots suggest a split window could appear at the rear of the ZR1, but then again, that treatment may be reserved for the even more extreme Zora, which is predicted to debut sometime next year. Either way, the ZR1 will certainly feature distinctive bodywork to help set it apart from the Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray.

Same Interior Expected

Unfortunately, our spy photographers have already seen the ZR1 interior, and the news is somewhat unfortunate: no obvious changes are coming. The so-called Great Wall of Buttons is carrying over despite some rumors suggesting that the center console interface would change for the 2025 model year. Given how fast aftermarket twin-turbo Corvettes can be, we have high hopes for the factory model as the sports car brand enters an era of new leadership. Hopefully, GM will satiate our curiosity with more concrete information in future teasers over the next month.
