$140k Electric Hummer Restomod Can Hit 60 MPH Quicker Than A Chevy Corvette

Key Takeaways

  • North American Electric Vehicles introduces a 1,000-horsepower electric Hummer restomod priced at $139,000.
  • The Cyber-Hummer has a 300-mile range, military-grade chassis, and can be fast-charged with NACS or CCS adapters.
  • It boasts an adjustable suspension setup, space for six passengers, a vegan leather interior, and a 15.1-inch central display.

If you’ve always fancied an original Hummer H1, but the idea of 10 mpg terrifies you, North American Electric Vehicles (NAEV) has introduced the perfect compromise: a 1,000-horsepower electric restomod. The latest addition to the lineup is the top-spec Cyber-Hummer Executive Edition, which retails for an eye-watering $139,000 – more than a mid-spec GMC Hummer EV Pickup (3x 4WD trim) would set you back. As far as crazy Hummers go, the Cyber-Hummer is nowhere near as outlandish as the 717-hp six-wheeled H1 built by Danton Arts Kustoms and Frenchy Export LLC, but it’s more powerful.

So, what do you get in return for that chunk of change? The thirsty combustion engine has been jettisoned; in its place is a dual electric motor setip connected to a Tesla-sourced battery. As mentioned, NAEV claims the Executive Edition has a heady 1,000 horses, enough to propel this wheeled brick to 60 mph in a claimed 2.5 seconds. That’s as quick as the new Rivian R1 Quad-Motor models and even quicker than a Corvette Stingray. There’s no mention of the battery pack size, but all iterations of the Cyber-Hummer can cover 300 miles between charges.

Should Be Excellent When Venturing Off-Road

The range sounds rather ambitious, and we’re guessing it will struggle to achieve that figure in regular commuting and traffic. Then again, we doubt anyone (besides Arnold Schwarzenegger) would want to drive this behemoth daily. Should you choose to do so, charging should be a cinch; NAEV says the Cyber-Hummer is capable of fast charging and can use either NACS or CCS adapters.

With a “military-grade” chassis, 15 inches of ground clearance, 20-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch all-terrain tires, and a front and rear track of 70 and 73 inches, respectively, the Cyber-Hummer should be extremely capable off-road. NAEV says it has equipped the Hummer with a modern independent suspension setup that is also adjustable. The truck has plenty of presence courtesy of the signature squared-off styling and utilitarian persona that radiates from every crevice – a luxury vehicle it is not.

Classic Styling Hides Modern-Day Technology

Up front, there have been minor revisions. LED headlights replace the standard halogen items, while the bumper has been replaced with a rudimentary bash bar with dual tow hooks. Aside from those changes, the Cyber-Hummer looks every bit as tough and rugged as the original Humvee, which was designed for military use. Customers can choose from four colors, namely Gray Standard, Gold, White, and Black. The interior looks rather barren by today’s standards, but it’s a considerable improvement over the standard Hummer H1.

Mil-Spec Automotive has gifted it with some modern off-road enhancements.

For a start, NAEV has increased passenger space, and the H1 can now carry up to six occupants – the last H1 ‘Alpha’ models could only accommodate four passengers despite the generous exterior dimensions. Don’t expect to find much in the way of luxury in the Cyber-Hummer. Vegan leather, a state-of-the-art sound system, a 15.1-inch central display, and a three-spoke Momo steering wheel are what you can expect inside. If $139,000 is too rich for your blood, Baja ($98,000) and Commander ($119,900) trims are available with the same claimed range but poorer acceleration. If you’re interested, the company is accepting fully refundable $300 deposits.
