2025 Kia Seltos Is A New Car Bargain

Kia has announced pricing for the 2025 Seltos crossover. As expected, the competent Seltos is slightly more expensive than the outgoing model, but not by much, with increases ranging between $100 and $1,000. Minor changes have been made, with the Korean automaker tweaking the standard equipment. It’s worth noting that the Seltos was recently facelifted, so buyers shouldn’t expect significant refinements.

To start with, Kia’s Parking Distance Warning-Reverse system is now standard on the EX and SX trim levels. The EX AWD and SX also receive a Smart Power Liftgate, making loading heavier items, groceries, or luggage easier. The S grade gains an auto up/down function for the driver-side power window. For some reason, Kia has dropped the 10.25-inch digital cluster for a more basic 4.25-inch display. The larger display was standard for MY2024.

Minor Updates For MY2025

Elsewhere, the S trim also receives new 17-inch wheels with a two-tone design as standard. Seltos EX customers can now specify a Power Sunroof package, while the EX AWD receives a cargo cover as standard. The automaker also notes that the “2025 Seltos also benefits from an updated interior, featuring improved materials and finishes” but doesn’t elaborate on these improvements.

Aside from these revisions, everything else has stayed the same. That means the Seltos soldiers on with familiar powertrains. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a CVT, offers 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Customers can choose between front- or all-wheel drive. A turbocharged 1.6-liter is also available and produces a respectable 195 hp and 195 lb-ft. The latter receives standard all-wheel drive and sprints to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds.

What’s On The Horizon?

While unconfirmed, reports suggest the Kia Seltos will receive a hybrid powertrain in 2025. This would bolster appeal and increase sales, but Kia executives have previously indicated that the current Seltos won’t be offered as a hybrid. That suggests the second generation will receive a hybrid option. This is very likely, as the Korean brand has plans to introduce more hybrid vehicles in the coming years. Like several other brands, such as Mercedes-Benz and General Motors, Kia is reportedly scaling back from EVs to focus on market needs.
