Chevy Trax Sales Triple In 2024, But Traverse, Suburban, Trailblazer Tumble

  • Sales of the Chevrolet Trax jumped by 230.3% through the first half of the year.
  • Shockingly, the Lyriq was the only Cadillac model to see an increase in sales through the first half.
  • Sales of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV surged 9,281%.

Total U.S. deliveries for the GM brand grew by 0.6% in the year’s second quarter but are down 0.4% across January-June. Data released by GM also reveals that Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC sales have all fallen this year, but some models have been selling better than others.

In the case of the Chevrolet brand, sales have dipped by 1.2% in the first half of the year. This is in part because sales are down for the Suburban by 29.8%, Tahoe by 14.3%, and Trailblazer by 15.7%. In addition, sales of the Bolt EV are down 75%, the Camaro by 69.4%, the Malibu by 11.6%, and the Traverse by 39.6% this year.

Review: The 2024 Chevrolet Trax Sets A New Low Bar But In A Good Way

Interestingly, these sales decreases were partially offset by a 230.3% sales increase of the popular Chevrolet Trax in the first half. Chevy shifted 90,463 examples from January to June, and the second quarter proved to be particularly fruitful, with 52,875 units finding new homes, a 152.7% increase over Q2 2023. Sales of the Colorado are also up 26.1%, Corvette sales have jumped 5.2%, and Silverado sales are up 4.8%.

These select Chevys aren’t the only models from GM’s portfolio selling well this year. Sales of the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq have jumped an impressive 465.4%, with 13,094 units sold through the first half compared to the 2,316 sold in H1 last year. Unfortunately for Cadillac, the Lyriq is the only model that has experienced an increase in sales this year. The CT4 (-35.6%), CT5 (-31.3%), Escalade (-7.6%), XT4 (-19.8%), XT5 (-13.7%), and XT6 (-10.2%) posted fewer sales than the same period last year.

As mentioned, GMC sales are down 0.9% this year, but it’s not all bad news. The Canyon has jumped by 43.6%, and the Terrain by 30.6% through the first six months of the year. The GMC Hummer EV posted the biggest spike, with a 9,281% increase in sales, moving 4,597 units in the first half of 2024 compared to the 49 sold in the first half of 2023.
