2025 Nissan Rogue Finds A New Way To Appeal To Adventurers

Key Takeaways

  • MY2025 Nissan Rogue arrives with a new Rogue Rock Creek edition.
  • New rugged trim receives all-terrain tires, model-specific exterior/interior touches, and standard all-wheel drive.
  • Minor revisions have been made to the rest of the lineup following last year’s facelift.

Facelifted less than a year ago, it would be reasonable to expect the 2025 Nissan Rogue to arrive with minimal revisions. But the Japanese automaker has surprised us by introducing a new trim called the Rock Creek edition. As the name suggests, the latest model added to the range is the most rugged yet, with chunky off-road tires, unique styling details, and standard all-wheel drive, to name a few differences.

But before we get to that, let’s look at what powers the Rock Creek edition. As with the rest of the lineup, the new Rogue gains motivation from a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of the trim, all 2025 Rogue models send power to the wheels via an Xtronic CVT. Customers can select from front- or all-wheel drive, but the Rock Creek receives the latter as standard.

New Rock Creed Edition Is For Outdoorsy Types

Nissan says the new Rock Creek trim is aimed at adventurous types, and this is reflected in its standard features. Starting with the exterior, the front fascia receives a bold gloss black front grille with silver accents and a model-specific bumper with Lava Red finishes. Lashings of crimson are found throughout, with the door badging, roof rails, and wheels all accented in red.

Speaking of the wheels, the Rock Creek edition wears 17-inch satin black wheels shod with 235/65 Falken Wild Peak all-terrain rubber. While the Rock Creek is far from a true off-roader, this will undoubtedly be useful when adventuring off the beaten path. Gloss black side mirror caps round out the exterior updates. Customers can choose from four exterior colors: Baja Storm, Boulder Gray, Everest White, and Super Black.

Unique Interior Touches For The Rock Creek

Inside, the Rock Creek Edition sports water-repellent leatherette upholstery, Lava Red contrast stitching, and piano black trim inlays. While it may be the most rugged Rogue money can buy, the interior is packed to the rafters with luxury equipment and technology. Standard features include a 360-degree camera with an off-road view (operable up to 12 mph), hill descent control, and heated seats. Those requiring more toys can opt for the premium package, which adds a heated steering wheel, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a wireless charging pad, a motion-activated power liftgate, and more.

This could spell trouble for the Tennessee factory where the crossover is built.

Nissan has clearly seen the success of the Subaru Forester Wilderness and hopes to capitalize on that with the Rogue. Although a new Forester has been introduced, the Wilderness will continue to be based on the old model, although a new variant is planned. But what about the rest of the Rogue lineup? Nissan hasn’t forgotten about the other trims, with minor changes being made for the new model year.

Plenty Of Technology To Keep You Safe

For a start, the MY2025 Rogue is now available with ProPilot Assist 2.1. The system allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel in certain circumstances (such as single-lane freeway driving) and on certain roads. It can handle the braking, acceleration, and steering as long as the driver pays attention. ProPilot Assist 2.1 uses Google Built-In and is available as an option on the Rogue SL and Platinum grades.

Alternatively, two other driver assistance packages are available to the 2025 Rogue. This includes ProPilot Assist (standard on the SV and Rock Creek), which offers adaptive cruise control and steering assist. The SL and Platinum models receive ProPilot Assist 1.1 as standard, which uses onboard navigation to adjust the vehicle’s speed ahead of upcoming curves in the road.

Even The Base Models Are Well-Equipped

Sticking with safety, all 2025 Rogue trims receive Nissan Safety Shield 360. This means even the base model gains blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear door alert, among other things.

This facelifted model is looking mighty enticing.

On the entertainment front, the Rogue S, SV, and Rock Creek are equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Step up to the SL and Platinum models, and the Rogue gets a 12.3-inch screen with Google built-in, which introduces useful apps such as Google Play, Google Maps, and Google Assistant. These plusher trims receive a wireless charger and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Pricing And Availability

Lastly, the 2025 Rogue SL and Platinum gain an updated version of the 360-degree monitor. The more advanced system now has 3D rotation around the car, so drivers can quickly identify potential obstacles. The optional Technology Package has two extra camera angles (Front Wide View and Invisible Hood View). Nissan says this is the first time this technology has been equipped in one of its US-market vehicles. Nissan hasn’t shared pricing for the 2025 Rogue but notes it will reach dealerships in the summer. We don’t expect the MSRP to stray too far from 2024’s starting price of $28,850.
