Now Is The Best Time To Buy A 2025 BMW M8 Or 8 Series

Key Takeaways

  • BMW is offering a new discount on the 2025 8 Series and M8 lineups.
  • 8 Series is eligible for a $3,000 discount, while M8 is available with $4,000 off.
  • $1,500 loyalty discount is also offered to existing BMW customers.

The BMW 8 Series first appeared in 2019 as a replacement for the 6 Series, supplanting its handsome predecessor as the top GT offering in the automaker’s lineup. Sales of the lineup haven’t been strong for quite some time, so it comes as no surprise that the Bavarian marque is offering a discount for all 8 Series models. However, the 2025 M8 and 8 Series are getting significant discounts shortly after they were launched, and one can’t help but wonder if this is in anticipation of a change in tack for the model – either an all-new version or the model line’s total discontinuation.

Based on a dealer bulletin, CarsDirect reports that the entire lineup is eligible for a $3,000 Lease Credit and Purchase Credit. The 2025 8 Series has a base MSRP of $90,800 (840i Coupe), which means customers can get behind the wheel of the rakish GT car for $87,800. That’s not exactly cheap, but it’s a steal for a car of this ilk.

BMW

BMW is a German luxury car and motorbike manufacturer and current owner of Mini, Rolls-Royce, and Alpina. With roots dating back to 1913 as Rapp Motorenwerke, it officially became Bayerische Motoren Werke in 1922 as a manufacturer of aircraft engines. BMW’s first car was built in 1928 when it built the Austin 7 under license from Dixi, which was called the BMW 3/15. BMW grew into a manufacturer of premium and luxury automobiles, launching iconic nameplates like the 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series, and is today known as one of the leading luxury automakers in the world, while the BMW M division is hailed as a leading manufacturer of performance cars.

Even Better Deals For The High-Performance M8

And if you go further up in the range, there are greater deals to be had – the M8 lineup enjoys a $4,000 discount. Before options, the M8 Competition Coupe has a starting price of $138,800. No one is going to complain about a $4,000 price cut, especially when it could be spent on other options to enrich the experience further. Customers willing to spend six figures on a luxury coupe aren’t likely to change their minds because of a discount, but one certainly sweetens the deal.

Existing BMW owners looking to trade up can also enjoy a $1,500 loyalty discount. Trading up from abig 7 Series limo or a smaller 4 Series? The loyalty incentive and discount mean buyers can look forward to as much as $4,500 off an 8 Series or $5,500 off an M8. If you’re interested, you should act fast, as these discounts are only available until July 31.

Why Has BMW Introduced A Discount So Soon?

The discount is rather unusual, as BMW just started taking orders for the MY2025 8 Series. In Q2 2024, the automaker managed to shift just 1,411 units of the large GT car, which includes the Gran Coupé, Coupé, and Convertible. Only the outgoing X2, the controversial XM, and the niche BMW Z4 sold in lower numbers.

Its interesting proportions got us all giddy about what Munich is brewing.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced suggesting that the 8 Series would be discontinued in 2026 and replaced by an all-new 6 Series. The new 6er was said to be based on the CLAR platform and receive available electric and gas-powered drivetrains. However, BMW poured cold water on the idea, issuing a statement that said, “There are currently no plans to reintroduce the BMW 6 Series to the market for model year 2026, despite what is being widely reported in automotive media circles.” That said, the gorgeous Skytop concept suggests BMW is certainly pondering the future of its luxury grand tourer.
