There’s An Even Cheaper Way To Drive The 2025 Porsche Macan Electric

Key Takeaways

  • Porsche introduces two new trims for the Macan Electric.
  • The new RWD variant is the entry-level model with 335 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.
  • The Macan Electric 4S is positioned between the 4 and Turbo trims and develops up to 509 hp.
  • Pricing for the Macan Electric RWD starts at $75,300, while the Macan 4S has an $84,900 MSRP.

Porsche has introduced two new Macan Electric trims, broadening the appeal of the small electric crossover. Zuffenhausen has added an entry-level RWD variant and a Macan 4S, bridging the gap between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo variants revealed earlier this year.

The rear-wheel-drive Macan is the new base model in the lineup. It receives a 100 kWh battery pack powered by a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. This motor is the same one used in the AWD Macan 4 and provides a healthy 335 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. While it has 67 fewer horses than the Macan 4, it reaches 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and has a maximum speed of 136 mph. The RWD model is, naturally, 243 lbs lighter than its AWD sibling.

Two New Models Bolster Macan Electric’s Appeal

No EPA estimates exist for the new Macan EV models, but Porsche says the new base model has a WLTP-estimated range of 398 miles. That’s impressive, but we expect more realistic figures from the EPA. The entry-level Macan RWD receives air suspension and (PASM Porsche Active Suspension Management) as standard, but rear-axle steering is optional.

A step up from the Macan and Macan 4, the new 4S has an updated rear-axle motor. Together with the front motor (also used in the Turbo and Macan 4), the 4S develops a combined output of 442 hp. With the overboost function, horsepower is temporarily boosted to 509 hp. With Launch Control, the torque is rated at 578 lb-ft. Speaking of which, when Launch Control is activated, the sprightly crossover can sprint to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds before topping out at 149 mph. Range is pegged at 377 miles.

New Colors, Off-Road Package, And More

The 4S variant gains Adaptive Air Suspension and PASM at no extra cost. However, customers can specify Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and rear-axle steering for a premium. Aside from introducing two new models, Porsche has already updated the rest of the lineup. A new paint color, Slate Gray Neo, can be specified across the lineup. Customers can choose a new 20-inch ‘Macan S’ wheel design.

Porsche Is Putting Its Most Attainable Models To Bed Earlier Than Expected

The Macan and 718 Boxster/Cayman lineups will be discontinued earlier than planned as Porsche moves full steam ahead with its EV plans.

Porsche’s electric crossover isn’t a traditional off-roader, but customers wanting to wander off the beaten path can now equip their vehicles with an off-road design package. While it won’t turn the Macan EV into a Bronco rival, traveling down dirt roads should be easier. Thanks to a revised front bumper, the approach angle has been increased to 17.4 degrees. The ground clearance has also increased by 0.4 inches to 7.67 inches.

What Do The New Macan Electric Models Cost?

The off-road package can be color-matched to the paintwork or finished in Vesuvius Gray. This alters the look of the roof rails, front bumper, diffuser panels, and side skirts. Customers can also opt for 21-inch off-road design alloys painted in Vesuvius Gray. Elsewhere, Porsche has also updated the infotainment system with fresh animated welcome sequences, a new Themes app for the ambient lighting, and an updated look.

So, how much are you expected to pay? The Macan RWD has a starting price of $75,300, while the Macan 4S retails for $84,900. As a reminder, the Macan 4 Electric has a base MSRP of $78,800, while the Macan Turbo Electric retails for a whopping $105,300 – however, that can quickly exceed the $150,000 mark if you specify all the options. All pricing mentioned here does not include the automaker’s $1,995 delivery fee. Porsche is now accepting orders, with customer deliveries expected to commence in Q4 2024.
