Key Takeaways
- Honda teases 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport.
- The new model, which Honda describes as its most capable SUV yet, will arrive in early 2025.
- New Passport has distinctive styling cues with more rugged looks.
The third-generation Honda Passport has been around for nearly six years. While competent, the Passport is starting to show its age, so a replacement is needed. Honda has released its first official image of the next-generation Passport in the desirable Trailsport trim.
The front fascia will benefit from a substantial overhaul with more rugged design cues. The anonymous styling will make way for something more distinctive, with squared-off headlights featuring amber-colored C-shaped DRLs. This will be exclusive to Passport Trailsport models. Unusually, the grille appears smaller than before, with a rectangular insert featuring two hexagonal cutouts on either side of the Honda logo. In the fourth cutout is an orange Trailsport logo.

Rugged Styling For The Trailsport Trim
On the fascia, a ‘Passport’ script is proudly displayed beneath the grille, lending the SUV more presence and eschewing the generic styling of the current generation. Elsewhere, the hood appears to have a new scoop of sorts, creating a tougher look and providing additional cooling to the engine. The side mirrors also appear smaller than before, while the bumpers have an unusual cutout. Whether these touches are exclusive to the Trailsport or will be applied to other trims remains to be seen.

Honda also shared an image of the side profile in addition to the front view. The SUV is heavily disguised, so it’s difficult to see any styling details. The 2026 Passport looks larger than before, with more angular styling. We expect the newcomer will borrow styling elements from the latest Pilot, with a cleaner and more modern look.
What Do We Know So Far?
Honda says the next-generation Passport Trailsport will be the most “adventure-ready and capable Honda SUV yet.” The MY2026 Passport will arrive early in 2025, which means it could be revealed later this year before reaching dealerships in Q1 2025. There’s no word yet on the available powertrains, but it’s safe to assume the 3.5-liter V6 will make way for more frugal, turbocharged engines.

The practical SUV has been kept fresh for the new model year.
The current naturally aspirated six-cylinder motor produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, which shoves the Passport to 60 mph in six seconds or so. There’s a possibility Honda could introduce a smaller-capacity four-cylinder turbo with more power and torque, along with superior fuel efficiency. A hybrid is also possible; the Civic recently received a new hybrid drivetrain, so there’s no reason why Honda couldn’t introduce a powerful electrified motor for the Passport. We expect more teasers and information about the 2026 Passport to arrive soon.
