Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Is A Taycan-Rivaling Hyper Sedan With 1,527 HP And Insane Aero

  • The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype is a track-focused electric sedan aiming at a new Nurburgring record.
  • Three electric motors produce a combined 1527 hp (1139 kW / 1,548 PS) of power, for a vehicle that weighs 1,900 kg (4,189 lbs).
  • The carbon fiber body features advanced aerodynamics, generating up to 2,145 kg (4,729 lbs) of downforce.

Xiaomi unveiled a hardcore version of the SU7 electric sedan, designed to outperform the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT at the Nurburgring. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype has a carbon fiber body, advanced aerodynamics, and a trio of electric motors with a combined output of 1527 hp (1139 kW / 1,548 PS).

The performance EV was unveiled in China as a one-off prototype, but a production version could follow in the future. Recent spy shots showed a camouflaged test car testing around the Green Hell, although with a significantly less aggressive bodykit.

Visually, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra looks like a racing version of the SU7, keeping the McLaren-inspired face and the obvious Porsche Taycan references but adding wider fenders, touring-style bumpers, a large splitter, and a massive rear wing, capable of producing up to 2,145 kg (4,729 lbs) of downforce.

The EV is powered by three electric motors made by Xiaomi producing a combined 1527 hp (1,139 kW / 1,548 PS). This is 435 hp (324 kW / 440 PS) more than the rival Taycan Turbo GT, and 279 hp (209 kW / 283 PS) more than the Zeekr 001 FR. At the same time, the prototype weighs 1,900 kg (4,189 lbs) which makes it significantly lighter compared to its production-spec competitors.

Energy is sourced in a CATL Qilin 2.0 battery pack, which features a maximum discharge rate of 1,330 kW making it suitable for the track. According to Xiaomi, the SU7 Ultra accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.97 seconds, from 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 5.97 seconds, and from 0-300 km/h (186 mph) in 15 seconds, before topping out at 350 km/h (217 mph).

Stopping power is taken care of by high-performance AP Racing brakes, aided by the regenerative braking system. The maximum deceleration force is 2.36G, coming to a full stop from 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 15 seconds.

Xiaomi reportedly wants to take the SU7 Ultra to the Nurburgring in October, aiming to best the 7:07.55 lap time of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and the 7:25.23 of the Tesla Model S Plaid. However, these are both production vehicles, so to qualify for a record, the prototype has to beat the 6:05.336 best-ever lap time achieved by the fully electric Volkswagen ID.R.
