Ford has upped pricing for its best-selling electric car, the Mustang Mach-E, just months after slashing prices. Based on a dealer memo, CarsDirect reports that the lineup is more expensive than before. The high-end GT trim now has an MSRP of $54,995, $1,000 more than before.

However, not all trims have been affected. The entry-level model (with 250 miles of range) retains its appealing starting price of $39,995. However, those looking for a more usable range figure must opt for the Extended Range (ER) variant, which carries a $1,000 premium over its old pricing. While no one likes to pay more, the Select ER receives standard all-wheel drive and a 91 kWh battery, allowing 300 miles of range.

Minor Pricing Revisions Don’t Dent Value For Money Appeal
It’s worth noting that the Premium, also available with Standard Range and Extended Range battery packs, is now priced at $43,995. That is a lot cheaper than the GT. However, when you equip the Premium trim with all-wheel drive and the ER battery pack, the price gap narrows down to just $4,005.

Thankfully, it’s not all bad news for Mustang Mach-E customers as the range-topping Mach-E Rally is more affordable by $1,000. This variant now retails for $58,995 and receives all-wheel drive and the ER battery pack as standard, although the range is reduced to 265 miles. Ford has also increased the delivery fee by $100 to $1,995.
Strong Sales Despite EV Downturn
Even though demand for electric vehicles is falling, the Mustang Mach-E is doing reasonably well. In Q2 2024, 12,645 examples were sold, representing a 46.5% increase over the same period last year. So far, the Blue Oval has shifted 22,234 units in 2024. Strangely, Ford has decided to increase pricing when sales are doing well, but these minor adjustments won’t stand in the way of prospective buyers.

Not that fans are cross-shopping anyway.
According to the report, Ford has introduced discounts and appealing financing deals to keep customers interested. Earlier this month, there was 0% interest for 60 months and, for Tesla drivers, a $10,000 discount aimed at tempting EV owners out of their Model Ys and Model 3s. The Mustang Mach-E has some appealing lease deals. The Select is available from $388 p/m over a two-year deal with a 10,500-mile annual cap. This requires an upfront payment of $4,587. The plusher Premium has a lower monthly payment ($365) with $4,964 due at signing.
