Isuzu Turns D-Max Into A Mud-Loving Monster: Meet The Mudmaster

  • Isuzu has introduced a new special edition of the D-Max called the Mudmaster.
  • The pickup boasts accessories that boost its rugged look and all-terrain prowess.
  • The new is priced from £36,495 ($47,100).

While the facelifted D-Max has been available in other markets since late 2023, Isuzu UK continues to release special editions of the outgoing model. The latest is the Isuzu D-Max Mudmaster, which includes several accessories to boost its off-road capabilities.

}

The Mudmaster is based on the flagship V-Cross trim of the D-Max. Highlights include a snorkel for water crossings, a rear canopy, a roof rack, additional LEDs, and a winch concealed beneath a lift-up metal license plate.

The truck also features extra cladding, steel underbody protection, wind visors, fender extensions, side steps, white Isuzu badging, and Mudmaster decals on the sides. Notably, it rides on 20-inch Hurricane alloy wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country A/T III tires. This new wheel-tire setup is complemented by a Pedders off-road suspension kit, which boosts ground clearance by 1.75 inches (45 mm).

Interior upgrades are limited to illuminated scuff plates, rubber mats, and heavy-duty seat covers. The rest of the cabin remains as per the V-Cross trim, including the 9-inch infotainment system.

Under the hood you’ll find the standard 1.9-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, delivering 162 hp (121 kW / 164 PS) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. The standard 4WD system pairs with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Isuzu D-Max Mudmaster is available to order in the UK, with prices starting at £36,495 ($47,100) for the manual and £38,495 ($49,679) for the automatic, making it cheaper than the limited-production Isuzu D-Max Steel Edition. Isuzu boasts that the D-Max features one of the industry’s most extensive accessory catalogs, making it ideal for off-roading, camping, or overlanding.

The Mudmaster will likely be one of the last special editions of the outgoing D-Max before Isuzu brings the facelifted version to the UK market. Besides the diesel-powered model, Isuzu is working on a fully electric version of the D-Max that will debut in 2025. Rivals of the midsize pickup include the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, VW Amarok, and Mitsubishi L200.
