You’ve Now Got 76 More Reasons To Buy A 2025 Porsche Taycan

Following the reveal of the 2025 Taycan, Porsche has now revealed EPA range estimates for the electric sedan. While the updated figures have not yet been published on the official EPA website, Porsche has shared the new range estimates on its customer-facing website.

Aside from the expected styling and tech improvements, the standard battery and Performance Battery Plus have seen a capacity increase, to 89 kWh and 105 kWh, respectively. Aside from range improvements, Porsche says the Taycan can now recharge from 10-80% in as little as 18 minutes.

Much Better Range Figures Across The Board

These are massive improvements over last year’s EPA range figures and make the Taycan even more usable than before. The entry-level variant, for example, sees an increase of 68 miles. Equipped with the Performance Battery Plus, the base Taycan range improves by a whopping 76 miles, which is very impressive. This gives the Taycan Performance Battery Plus a total range of 318 miles.

318 miles is nothing to scoff at, but how do rival brands compare? When it comes to sporty electric sedans, the Tesla Model S can go much further (402 miles) and even the Plaid can do 359 miles between trips to a charging station. That’s a big difference compared to the Taycan Turbo GT (276 miles).

Strong Figures, But There’s Room For Improvement

Regardless of trim, all MY2025 Taycans trail behind the updated Lucid Air. The $69,900 Air Pure can cover a whopping 420 miles on a single charge, and is also one of the most efficient EVs that money can buy, with an EPA-certified 146 MPGe rating. The Air Touring has a 406-mile range, while the Grand Touring can travel 520 miles between trips to the charger.

Getting back to the Taycan, the batteries aren’t the only thing that Porsche has enhanced. Aside from the larger packs, the automaker has also blessed the sedan with aero-optimized wheels, more efficient electric motors, and tires with reduced rolling resistance. As the new ratings confirm, every little bit adds up.
