Key Takeaways
- 2025 BMW i4 pricing increases slightly across all trims, together with the destination charge.
- Driving range has improved on one model but falls on the rest of the lineup.
- i4 M50 continues to be a strong seller.
Just over three months ago, BMW presented the refreshed i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe with subtle styling tweaks, a more impressive cabin, and additional tech, but the automaker did not reveal pricing and range estimates. That has now been addressed for all i4 variants but the base eDrive35, which has not been axed but will be detailed in due course.
With the arrival of the refreshed and improved 2025 model, pricing has increased across the board (with the exception of one model), and so has the automaker’s destination charge, which was formerly $995 for the entire 2024 lineup and is now $1,175, an increase of 180 bucks.

Electric Driving Range Takes A Hit
One of the biggest stumbling blocks to mainstream EV adoption remains range anxiety, so an increase in distances between charges is always welcome. Unfortunately, such improvements have only been touted for the i4 eDrive40, although the base eDrive35 may also improve. The eDrive40’s maximum range has now increased by up to 17 miles (depending on which wheel you choose), but other trims lose a little bit of distance.

Despite the increase in price and the loss of some driving range on higher trims, the i4 is expected to continue selling strongly, with the i4 M50 still leading the company’s sales of M-badged cars, even when the M340i exists as a smart M3 alternative.
New Colors, New Tech, But Is It Worth It?
Along with a sharper design, the new i4 can now be had in Cape York Green metallic or Vegas Red metallic finishes, and the wide range of BMW Individual hues is also open to the EV. The updated model also helps justify its price increase with the latest BMW iDrive Operating System 9 technology, new interior trim materials, new 20-inch wheel designs, and new lighting. Compared to alternatives that wear Polestar or e-tron badges, the new i4 is a much more conventional avenue to EV ownership, and while it goes slightly less far and costs more than before, those things won’t matter to those who don’t want the new Tesla Model 3. We’ll bring you a fairer comparison once we’ve driven the new i4, and that shouldn’t be too far away – production has already commenced.
