Dodge Thinks It Can Fool V8 Fans With Electric Muscle Car’s Exhaust

Dodge is planning to announce more details about the all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona on August 9, but ahead of the Friday event, the automaker has teased what appears to be the updated soundscape for the EV’s Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust. When the Charger Daytona was first unveiled in concept form, this system played a futuristic, electronic noise, but the automaker always said that it would evolve, with different sounds for different cars and more fine-tuning to come based on customer feedback.

Since its debut, the system has been refined at least once, but now a new video has been published on Instagram, revealing a tone that sounds very similar to a combustion vehicle. That clip appears further down in this article; below is what the electric muscle car used to sound like.

A Hybrid Kind Of Sound

There’s certainly some V8 inspiration in this soundscape, with some commenters even saying that it sounds similar to their own V8-powered Dodge muscle cars. That said, it’s still clearly an artificial sound, and although the tunnel that the Charger Daytona drives through helps to amplify this noise, it’s still not a mechanical sound and some hardcore enthusiasts will take issue with this.

The new muscle car has now been revealed in production guise, and examples will start rolling off the factory floor before the end of the year.
