Pagani Has Run Out Of Zonda Special Editions, So It’s Rebuilding Old Ones Instead

The Pagani Zonda is an incredible car no matter how it’s configured. Given its price point, which puts it far out of reach for most of us, the people who buy them can afford to have them customized however they choose. Money is no object, and it leads to some fantastic cars both from Pagani’s creativity and customer requests. The latest is this Pagani Zonda that has a very simple feature that makes it absolutely brilliant – a manual transmission.

A transmission isn’t generally the kind of thing that one gets overly excited about when looking at a car. They do the job of managing an engine’s power, but they’re not the stars of the show. They really should be, though, as the joy of shifting a manual transmission cannot be overrated and the number of cars that let you enjoy that experience is steadily dwindling. At least, it is in everyday cars – high-end hypercar buyers are currently enjoying a number of self-shifted options.

Red Paint And Carbon Fiber Make For A Beautiful First Impression

This particular one-off is a specially recommissioned Zonda. There aren’t a lot of details, but this one looks to be based on a Zonda 760 Roadster. It has rich red paint with plenty of carbon fiber for accents, along with a fixed rear spoiler and a big intake scoop up front. The wheels wear gunmetal gray paint with red center caps and the tailpipes are black. It looks fabulous and could hold its own in the looks department against the first Pagani Utopia in the US, which was decked out with carbon fiber.

If it looks a little strange, that’s just down to being cautious and wrapping the carbon fiber body in a thick protective film to avoid stone chips. Inside, there’s plenty of black leather on the heavily bolstered sports seats with red contrast stitching that plays off of the exterior paint. There’s also a healthy dose of Alcantara on the dashboard and the steering wheel, along with metal accents from the steering wheel to the instrument cluster. It’s a truly beautiful car no matter the livery, but this one is easily a favorite.

A Truly Fortunate Owner

These photos were captured while the car was out testing near the Pagani factory in Italy. Once you stop gawking at the beauty of the interior, you see confirmation that this has a manual transmission. It makes what’s already a pretty exclusive hypercar even more unique, and the attached 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V12’s 760 horses don’t hurt either.

Once Pagani has finished its work, this Zonda will join the collection of Mike Yin. He’s a world-class collector of hypercars with a collection that includes multiple Zonda and Huayra hypercars, among others. Most of us would be content to get our hands on just one, but he has a bunch, which seems entirely unfair. We’ll have to be content with sneak peeks of the cars he commissions.
