2025 Jeep Gladiator Is Slightly Less Fun For Enthusiasts

Pricing and specifications for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler were announced yesterday, and the main takeaway was its retention of a manual transmission. Unfortunately, the same will not be true for the 2025 Jeep Gladiator, and the simple reason is that take rates were extremely low. The manual also significantly lowered the towing capacity, but regardless of why the stick was dropped, this decision leaves the Toyota Tacoma as the only manual-equipped truck in America. Instead, the Gladiator’s eight-speed automatic transmission – formerly a $2,500 option on the Gladiator – becomes standard, effectively increasing the base MSRP of the pickup by $205.

The Gladiator also gets access to two new colors and an Active Cabin Ventilation system that can pre-cool the interior via the Jeep Connect mobile app. Like its Wrangler sibling, power door locks and windows are finally standard. The bigger news is that most of the trims are cheaper than they were for the 2024 model year, and the top two are especially attractive with pricing down by $5,830.

Additional Color Options

Two new colors are available: Fathom Blue and ’41, the latter a military-inspired olive green hue, but the cabin is still only available with Black or Black and Green. Also unchanged is the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of 7,700 lbs. Payload ratings range from 1,105 to 1,725 lbs, depending on the trim. Jeep adds that the long-awaited Gladiator 4xe hybrid will arrive “by the end of 2025,” and we expect this to follow the same recipe as the Wrangler 4xe.

What To Expect From The Electrified Gladiator

The Wrangler 4xe gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a starter-generator electric motor producing a combined 375 hp and 470 lb-ft, but it remains to be seen if the Gladiator will go the same route because it has the rear end of a Ram 1500, unlike the Wrangler. As a result, Stellantis may choose to fit a slightly different setup, potentially with a larger battery pack.

Blue-tinged decals, badges, and interior stitching will help set the electrified Gladiator apart from its V6 siblings, which will surely be offered in several special-edition forms. Jeep intends to offer an electrified version of every vehicle it sells by the end of the year, but at the same time, the popularity of the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has kept the V8 on sale a little longer. Unfortunately, a V8 Gladiator is unlikely, but Stellantis is developing new powertrains that ought to offer at least similar performance.
