2025 Rivian R1 Tri-Motor Deliveries Start Today

In June, Rivian unveiled its updated R1T and R1S, and while the styling was barely touched, there were several changes beneath the skin. There was also the introduction of a new Tri-Motor powertrain option, adding to the existing Dual-Motor and Quad-Motor alternatives, and according to RivianTrackr on X, this new triple-motor model is now ready to reach customers in SUV form.

In case you missed it, the Dual-Motor offers 533 horsepower, the Performance Dual-Motor delivers 665 hp, and the new Tri-Motor outperforms the old Quad-Motor with 850 hp. The updated Quad-Motor has been boosted to 1,025 hp. 0-60 mph times for each are claimed at 4.5 seconds, 3.4 seconds, 2.9 seconds, and less than 2.5 seconds, respectively.

The Most Powerful R1S Currently Available

It’s unclear how many examples have rolled off the production line, and we don’t know what the state of deliveries for other R1 variants is, but CarBuzz has reached out to Rivian for more information and will update this article when a response is received. Hopefully, those who ordered their triple-motor EV as a truck won’t be waiting much longer.

You’ll be able to tell which is which on the road thanks to silver brake calipers and accents on the Dual-Motor, and since the new Tri-Motor outperforms the old Quad-Motor, it takes over the use of yellow accents. The range-topping version now gets blue accents and a small Gear Guard badge.

Pricing And Other Details

For the new model year, the second-generation R1S starts at $75,900 for the Dual-Motor with the Standard Pack battery. Upgrading to the Large Pack brings the price to $82,900, while the Max Pack is another $7,000 pricier. The Tri-Motor, like the Quad-Motor, is only available with the Max Pack and starts at $99,900. Pricing for the Quad-Motor hasn’t been released yet, but hopefully, the start of Tri-Motor R1S deliveries means the range-topping model will be available soon.

If these seem too expensive, Rivian is working on cheaper EVs, too, with five new EVs expected in the next few years. Among these is the R2 with its novel rooftop movie projector (and a targeted base price of $45,000) and the attractive R3 and R3X crossovers, which will offer a more compact and sporty approach to electromobility.
