790 Horsepower Is The Perfect Way To Celebrate 50 Years Of Porsche 911 Turbo

Porsche never forgets an anniversary and always celebrates with a special edition, so it’s no surprise that a tuner specializing in Porsche modifications is following suit. German aftermarket firm TechArt has unveiled a new take on its extraordinary GTstreet R called the Monochrome, and it commemorates 50 years of the Porsche 911 Turbo. As its name suggests, this comes in a colorless matte finish with additional satin decals on the exposed carbon fiber hood.

Gold decals indicate the model’s special edition status on the windshield sun strip and the lower side of each door, and the auric hue is seen on the rear badge script, brake calipers, intake grille surrounds, and wheels. Other color combinations are also possible, including a satin jade exterior finish and black wheels, to name a few. The green car is wearing the Touring package with a subtler aerodynamic setup, but it still looks more extreme than a regular 911 Turbo.

Upgraded From Nose To Tail

Those forged wheels measure 21 inches in diameter at the front and 22 inches at the rear and are said to support brake ventilation. They sit within arches framed in carbon fiber, a material also found on the enormous rear wing, the roof spoiler, the engine cover, the redesigned diffuser, the wing mirror caps, the side skirts, and the front spoiler and air curtain splitters. The lightweight material can also be found in the new fenders, which feature heat extraction vents like those on the GT3 RS.

Inside, the cabin is fully reupholstered with copious amounts of Alcantara, lashings of leather, and swathes of carbon fiber. This applies to everything from the dashboard to the door cards, from the seats to the floor mats. The TechArt logo appears over the steering wheel airbag, a motif repeated on the seat headrests and the center armrest. Hints of gold uplift the black cabin with contrast piping and hog rings, but if this leans too heavily into the monochromatic theme for your taste, bi-color upholstery schemes with more vivid hues can be specified.

Brutal Performance A TechArt Staple

As with previous TechArt GTstreet R builds, up to 790 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque can be unlocked from the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged boxer engine, thanks to new turbochargers, new air filters, some freer-breathing exhaust work, and an ECU tune. This enables 0-62 mph in as little as 2.5 seconds, a tenth quicker than standard, and a top speed of 217 mph, up from 205 mph. Only 20 examples will be made, which should give some indication of the expense involved.

While specific pricing has not been detailed, the regular GTstreet R package costs around $85,000, and this special iteration is sure to carry a more premium sticker price. All in, you’re looking at around $290,000. That seems lofty, but the car Porsche itself created to celebrate a half-century of the turbocharged Neunelfer, the 911 Turbo 50 Years, carried a base MSRP of $261,100, excluding destination, the optional Heritage Design package, and additional customization choices.
