Mansory’s Ferrari Purosangue May Cause You To Lose Faith In Humanity

The arrival of the Ferrari Purosangue was enough to drive the self-professed purists into a boiling rage, with many claiming that Maranello’s finest should not have an SUV in its lineup – even though Ferrari refers to it as an FUV, or ‘Ferrari Utility Vehicle.’ Regardless, there’s no denying that the Purosangue transcends all its rivals, including from a style perspective. Sadly, Mansory’s take on the red-blooded, high-riding performance car has proven, yet again, that money can’t buy taste, and some people don’t deserve nice things. It’s called the Pugnator, almost as if Mansory is self-aware that the car whose name translates to pureblood has now become a cross-breed in all the strangest ways.

Finished in a classy shade called Vermillon, the Pugnator takes a hammer to old-world grandeur with a conspicuous carbon fiber body kit. This comprises a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes which, says the tuner, increases airflow to the radiators while improving downforce on the front axle.

Shrinking Violets Need Not Apply

The new bumper flows into the wheel arch extensions, which provide the Purosangue with a more menacing stance. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there’s no denying the Pugnator looks more aggressive than its stock sibling. Additional air inlets found here also contribute to the overall aerodynamic improvements. The hood has also received the Mansory treatment, with plenty of inserts and creases which, admittedly, spoil the design purity.

Round back, the shapely rear receives an oversized two-part roof spoiler that would look more at home on the back of a touring car. We’re not even sure how to describe the accompanying diffuser. The carbon fiber additions are finished in a unique red hue with a forged design which Mandory says “underline both the classic ‘red’ color scheme of a Ferrari and the high degree of individuality that characterizes every Mansory complete conversion.” To complete the look, a set of FC.5 ultra-light forged wheels (22 inches up front, 23 at the rear) have been tucked under the flared arches.

Mighty V12 Gets A Healthy Power Boost

Before heading to the interior, which can be customized tastefully by some, let’s take a look at what’s changed under the hood. The standard 6.5-liter V12 engine is something to behold, with healthy outputs of 715 horsepower and 528 lb-ft of torque. But for Mansory, that’s simply not enough. The power-hungry tuner has extracted a total of 746 hp and 538 lb-ft by fitting a 4-flow sports exhaust and fettling with the engine control unit. There are no performance figures, but it should be a shade quicker than the standard Purosangue.

Ferrari already offers customers a wide variety of interior finishes, but Mansory takes it to another level, here showcasing ivory-colored quilted leather upholstery with red trim. Cabin trim has been replaced with red-colored carbon fiber. Of course, this is only an example of what is available to customers, with Mansory noting that the interior “can be freely selected in terms of leather, colors, quilting, and carbon design.” Other upgrades include a new sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, illuminated sill plates, and Mansory floor mats. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for a vehicle as low-volume as this (only 20% of annual Ferrari sales will be for the Purosangue), it was never necessary to force any more individuality out of the ownership experience.
