2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV’s Power Bump Isn’t The Only Good News

Chevrolet has announced MY2025 updates for the Blazer EV, the strikingly styled Tesla Model Y rival. Revealed just over two years ago as a 2024 model, the revisions are minor and center around new options, the increased availability of trims, and in the case of the AWD model, improved horsepower, range, and torque (RWD trims gain more hp and range, too).

For MY2025, the Blazer EV lineup will comprise a full lineup of models, including the FWD, AWD, RWD, and SS models. The big news is the power bump. But before buyers get excited, this does not apply to FWD models, which soldier on with 220 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. Chevy has yet to announce an EPA-estimated range figure and claims this model will be available “to order soon.”

More Power And Increased Range For Most Trims

The AWD model benefits from an increase of 12 hp, for a total of 300 ponies while torque is increased by 22 lb-ft to 355 lb-ft. The range is now pegged at an EPA-estimated 283 miles, up from 279. It’s not a massive improvement, but four extra miles could mean the difference between reaching the nearest charger and being stranded. This is the only model that is available now, notes Chevrolet, with the RWD now open for customer orders.

Speaking of the RWD variant, the range has been increased by 10 miles to 334, while horsepower sees a healthy boost from 340 hp to 365 hp. Torque remains unchanged at 325 lb-ft. As for the range-topping SS, this model will only be available to order in Q1 2025, meaning customers will have to exercise some patience. But it will be worth the weight, with as much as 595 hp and 645 lb-ft available in Wide Open Watts mode. Unfortunately, the EPA range estimates are yet to be announced for this fiery trim.

More Options And Packages To Choose From

Aside from that, customers have more personalization choices when specifying their MY2025 Blazer EVs. For a start, the LT grade is now available with the Midnight and Sport packages, while a two-tone roof can be applied to the LT and RS variants. Lastly, GM’s innovative Super Cruise technology is available on the LT and RS AWD at extra cost. This desirable feature is fitted as standard to the SS.

Pricing kicks off at $45,995 for the FWD and peaks at $61,995 for the SS. While that does sound rather pricey, Chevy’s striking EV is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit, which means buyers can scoop one up for as little as $38,995 – not bad, but the Tesla Model Y has a starting price of $44,990 and is also eligible for the tax credit, making it appealing on the value front. But it seems Tesla (and other automakers) are losing out to the Blazer EV, with Chevrolet boasting a 52% conquest rate in August. Last month also happened to be Chevy’s best-ever EV sales month, with the Blazer EV said to play a big role in achieving this. Once the SS and FWD models hit dealerships, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Blazer EV garners more fans.
