  • Jeep has revealed the profile of the all-new Compass in an official sketch.
  • The new generation of the compact SUV will offer multiple powertrain options.
  • Its rollout will begin in Europe in 2025, with North America following in 2026.

Stellantis has published the first teaser of the all-new Jeep Compass, confirming it will available with multiple powertrain options. The European debut of the compact SUV will take place in 2025, with its launch in North America and global markets following in 2026.

The second generation of the Jeep Compass has been around since 2016, and despite a major facelift in 2021, it is in need of a major overhaul. The teaser sketch suggests that the new model will feature pronounced shoulders and a wraparound greenhouse, while retaining the boxy wheel arches of its predecessor. The front and rear ends have references to the larger Jeep Grand Cherokee, with slim lighting units and short overhangs.

The third generation of the Compass will be the first Jeep to ride on the STLA Medium architecture, shared with similarly-sized SUVs from other Stellantis brands including the Peugeot 3008 / 5008, Opel Grandland, as well as the successors of the Citroen C5 Aircross and DS 7.

Jeep confirmed that the model will offer four-wheel-drive and “various multi-energy propulsion systems”, without getting into specifics. The underpinnings are compatible with ICE, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrain options. However, only the dual-motor EV is currently available in AWD form – at least in the Peugeot E-3008 lineup.

Chances are that the new Compass will use different powertrains depending on the market. The entry-point in the European lineup could be the mild-hybrid 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and a 28 hp (21 kW / 29 PS) electric motor integrated into the six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Jeep might offer multiple electric versions with different power outputs and battery capacities. In the mechanically-related Peugeot, the most powerful AWD setup has dual motors producing a combined 316 hp (240 kW / 320 PS), while the long-range version has a 96 kWh battery and can travel up to 435 miles (700 km) between charges.

The automaker promised that the new Compass will offer “affordable capability, top performance, and advanced technology”, hinting at sophisticated infotainment and ADAS features.

Production of the new Compass will kick off next year at the Melfi plant in Italy. More locations will be added in the future, as the roll-out continues to other markets. The outgoing model is manufactured in four different factories – Ranjangaon (India), Pernambuco (Brazil), Toluca (Mexico), and Melfi (Italy) – for over 100 markets around the world.
