Modern Challenger SRT Hellcat Identifies As A ’71 Cuda

The custom bodywork is entirely made out of carbon fiber and rides on the underpinnings of the Hellcat

Modern Challenger SRT Hellcat Identifies As A ’71 Cuda

  • A custom Cuda reverse restomod is up for sale, based on the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
  • The conversion took 3,000 hours of work and is the fourth of 10 examples to be produced.
  • The muscle car will go under the hammer at the Indy auction, after failing to sell at Kissimmee.

If the idea of a Plymouth Barracuda with the performance and handling of a modern muscle car sounds like your dream ride, then this creation might just be the one for you. It’s a new-age Dodge Challenger Hellcat transformed into a 1971 Cuda lookalike, and it’s set to cross the block at Mecum’s Indy auction this May.

The build began life as a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, but that’s where the resemblance ends. The entire body has been reworked to adopt the aggressive, nostalgic lines of the classic, third-generation Plymouth Barracuda from the early 1970s, which itself shared its platform with the Challenger of that era.

The bodywork is made from prepreg carbon fiber, with a CNC-machined grille at the front. The quad round LED headlights are carried over from the Challenger, but the taillights have been reshaped to closely match those of the ‘71 Cuda.

The reverse restomod is finished in a custom Pink Metallic hue, with clear carbon accents on the hood and the rear fenders. It rolls on black three-piece alloy wheels, complete with pink brake calipers for a pop of color.

Moving inside, the pink stitching and accents inside the cabin match the exterior color, providing a playful contrast against the black leather upholstery. Carbon fiber accents, a starry headliner, and Alcantara inserts on the lower dashboard, center console, and door cards round out the interior’s sporty vibe.

Performance Remains Hellcat Strong

Under the hood, it’s all Hellcat. The muscle car retains the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, delivering 707 hp (527 kW / 717 PS) in stock form. While there are no mentionable performance upgrades, it does feature a custom exhaust with dual tailpipes mounted in the center. The car has only 55 miles (89 km) on the odometer—basically, it’s brand new.

According to the listing, the transformation reportedly took over 3,000 hours of work and is number 4 out of 10 that were made. Although Mecum doesn’t mention the builder, the Cuda appears to be the creation of Six Twelve Auto Worx.

Interestingly, this custom muscle car failed to sell at the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 auction in January, despite a highest bid of $275,000. The seller is now hoping for a better outcome at the Indy auction in May. For context, a purple Cuda-inspired Challenger from the same builder sold for $310,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2024 auction, though it was based on the Hellcat Redeye, not the standard Hellcat.

In addition to Six Twelve Auto Worx’s Cuda creations, another company called Modern Classix is also converting Challengers into Cuda lookalikes with a different body kit. One of their builds sold for $160,000 at Mecum Indy 2024.
