Ohio Sheriff Labels Tesla Vandals ‘Fat People Living In Mom’s Basement’

  • Sheriff Richard Jones of Butler County, Ohio, warned vandals that they would be sent to jail.
  • Jones called the actions “un-American” and said vandals are “brave until they come to jail.”
  • The sheriff vowed to honor Elon Musk by naming a street after the Tesla CEO in Ohio.

Tesla is facing a spate of vandalism across the US. The hatred for the brand isn’t confined to America, either, with reports coming in of cars being damaged in other countries as well. It’s a huge problem, not just for the brand itself but also for authorities trying to keep order, as private property is destroyed.

});

That’s certainly the case for Sheriff Richard Jones of Butler County, Ohio. He had a clear and pointed message to anyone thinking of defacing a Tesla, as he took to Facebook Live to decry the actions of vandals across the nation: damage a Tesla, and get ready for jail.

“I don’t care who you are. If you come to Butler County or live here and think you’re going to scratch or damage these Tesla trucks, you’ve made a terrible, terrible mistake,” said Jones. His statements were made while standing beside a veteran from the Marine Corps who apparently owns two Tesla trucks.

Oddly, no specific crimes were mentioned, and it’s unclear if the former Marine who appeared in the clip had faced any specific backlash for owning a Tesla. What was made clear, though, was that it was “un-American” to target someone just because of the vehicle they drive, especially if that person is a veteran. Jones then took particular aim at the alleged vandals, calling them “fat people that live in their mom’s basement and wear their mom’s pajamas.” He went on to say that “they think they’re brave until they come to jail.”

Sheriff Jones also used the opportunity to lay out plans for a street named after Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk has been faced with calls to step down from his position as Tesla CEO as he heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), with investors repeatedly stating their concerns. But other figures in government, including the President himself, have come to Musk’s aid, showing public support for Musk and Tesla.

Sheriff Jones has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and is known for his signature cowboy hat and boots. He’s been elected six times and often uses social media as a sounding board, speaking out against conservative policies.
