2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Trail Edition Isn’t Going To Be Cheap

The Mitsubishi Outlander has undergone an important mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, which includes a price increase across the range. However, the changes aren’t only limited to the features and styling; the Outlander lineup will also get a Trail Edition, which will be introduced by the third quarter of this year. The Diamond brand has yet to officially reveal the price of the Outlander Trail Edition, though a leak through ordering guides gave us an early peek.

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander

Base MSRP

$28,395

Base Trim Engine

2.5L Inline-4 Gas

Base Trim Horsepower

181 hp

Base Trim Torque

181 lb-ft @ 3600 rpm

According to CarsDirect, the Outlander Trail Edition will be priced at $37,995. This puts the outfitted model between the SEL 2WD trim and SEL S-AWC. With the mandatory $1,495 destination and handling, the new trim nearly touches the $40,000 mark, which isn’t cheap by any standard, but at least it’s much lower than the top-spec Platinum S-AWC trim.

Geared Up For Urban Adventures

Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed official images of the Outlander Trail Edition, though early previews were hosted, including an early publishing of images of Car and Driver. Based on those images, the outdoorsy model will be decorated with black plastic cladding, trim-exclusive graphics, and badging. It will come with an optional roof rack and a set of BF Goodrich Trail Terrain all-terrain tires, available at the dealer.

A tiny inline-four is nothing to write home about, but a 1.6-liter V6? That’s something you don’t see every day.

However, these exterior changes are limited to just that. The Outlander Trail Edition won’t have any mechanical upgrades; it won’t even have raised suspension, so we highly doubt it will be ready to go on any trails or beyond wherever a regular Outlander is supposed to go. This trim should attract those who want an affordable three-row crossover that looks like it can do SUV things.

More Variants Coming In The Next Few Years

The Mitsubishi Outlander Trail Edition won’t be the only outdoor-ready model in the range. Reports claim that a more robust Rugged Edition is also coming. No concrete details for now except that it will be introduced early in 2027, and that it will come with a large set of tires and a heavy-duty roof rack. It’s set to rival the Subaru Outlander in the rugged soft-roader segment.

It’s also time for automakers to start taking them seriously.

The rugged Outlanders are only the start of Mitsubishi diversifying its lineup. The company has confirmed that a mild-hybrid vesion will arrive next year to be sold side-by-side with the pure combustion and plug-in hybrid brothers. This expanded lineup will remain in the Japanese marque’s lineup for a few years before it transitions into the next-generation model, apparently, without the help of Nissan.
