A new Honda Prelude is coming, and the best part is, it’s confirmed to arrive in the US this year. A lot of people within my circle are excited about this news, some even received inspiration to build their own Prelude to welcome the new one. But out of all the Prelude builds I’ve seen so far, there’s one in North Carolina that rises above the rest: a 200 Honda Prelude with two engines – one at the front and one at the back.
2026 Honda Prelude
- Base Trim Engine
-
2.0-liter inline-4 gas hybrid
- Base Trim Horsepower
-
204 hp (unconfirmed)
- Base Trim Torque
-
232 lb-ft (unconfirmed)
- Transmission
-
CVT (unconfirmed)
This one-of-a-kind Prelude build uses two 2.2-liter H22A4 inline-four engines. While each power plant was originally rated at 200 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque each, the final outputs for this particular build aren’t specified. Regardless, it does come with an understated look, with the only hint of an engine at the back coming from the custom vents near the rear wheels to send air to the engine.
Can Run As FWD And AWD
The twin-engine Prelude build uses a custom tubular frame to support the weight, with the subframes for both engines sourced from the original Prelude donor cars. Power is transmitted through a 5-speed manual transmission, while, as necessary, the car is equipped with front and rear limited-slip differentials. Interestingly, the car can run in both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations, and also comes with two keys – one for each engine.

Beyond the engine modifications, this 2000 Prelude also comes with upgrades, such as a carbon fiber hood, aftermarket headlights, a set of 15-inch Rota Slipstream wheels, Toyo Proxes R888R tires, lowering springs, and factory shocks with raised top hats. It also comes with a custom twin exhaust systems, though the catalytic converters have been removed, so that’s one thing to be wary of.
Currently Up For Bid With A Few Days Left
Inside, this 2000 Prelude has a pair of Kirkey Racing bucket seats, four-point harnesses, quick-release steering wheel, digital instrument cluster for rear engine, and modified factory dashboard. However, the owner had to remove components, presumably to keep the weight at bay, and that includes air-conditioning, heating, power steering, EGR valves, and windshield washer motor. The car tips the scales at 2,820 lbs, with a 53/47 front-rear weight distribution.

If you’re interested, the twin-engine Honda Prelude is currently up for bidding at Cars & Bids, with the current bid at $10,000 at the time of writing. There are four days left before the bidding expires, so we expect offers to go up in the next few days. However, know that this car has some issues like oil drips from both engines, a non-waterproof interior, and a fault code P1491 (due to disconnected EGR valves).
