It’s nearly 10 years since the current-generation Jeep Compass was introduced, but despite that, it remains to be a strong seller for the brand, along with the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. Suffice to say, the nameplate is quite important for the brand, and with teasers already out and about, it’s only a matter of time before the American automaker introduces its next-gen model.

Jeep showcased the upcoming third-generation Compass in a new set of black and white photos, taken by renowned art, fashion, and entertainment photographer Alessandro Dobici. The photos aim to “reveal the car as both a machine and work of art,” but to us, they leave some clues about some familiar parts of the small SUV, along with some very obscure ones, too.
Some Nuggets That Leave Clues From The Photos
As confirmed by the images, the 2026 Jeep Compass will have an illuminated grille that mimics those found on the Wagoneer S EV. This is in line with the confirmed powertrain options for the small SUV: hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric. Meanwhile, textured parts are seen in photos, while a Jeep wordmark appears to be embroidered onto the seats.

The Wagoneer S Looks Like A Jeep, But It’s Something Completely New
The Wagoneer S is the Jeep’s first global EV and brand head Bob Broderdorf believes it delivers a genuine Jeep experience in electrified form.
Just like any other Jeep, expect some Easter eggs within the Compass’ cabin, particularly the seven-slot grille icon. The words “Since 1941” are also seen in photos, presumably found on the door cards or the dashboard based on the stitched details above it. This, of course, is a callback to the first Jeep that entered production in the same year – not the CJ, but the one used for World War II.
Production In Italy Is One Of The Highlights
The other images highlight the Compass being built in its factory in Melfi, Italy. Why Europe? That’s because the Compass will be first introduced on the Old Continent.
According to Stellantis, the Compass plays a crucial role in Jeep’s electrification strategy, hence the use of the modular STLA Medium platform, which allows for various powertrain options. Exacting details, however, are scarce at this point.

It’s unclear whether the next-gen Jeep Compass will ever reach the US, given that Stellantis has paused work at its Brampton Assembly Plant in Canada where it was supposed to be built. There’s uncertainty, sure, but the fact that Jeep moved 111,697 units of the Compass last year – its third bestseller – means that it’s an important nameplate that shouldn’t be given the ax. That said, hefty import tariffs may make its American arrival all but impossible.
