The 2025 Audi RS e-tron GT performance is the most powerful Audi ever built, so during our first drive in Las Vegas, we couldn’t wait to hook up our RaceBox data recorder to measure a 0-60 mph time. As a reminder, the new RS e-tron GT performance produces 912 horsepower from two electric motors, a huge increase over the outgoing model’s 637 hp.
A two-speed transmission helps the car launch violently off the line, and keep pulling hard to a 155 mph top speed. Audi says the RS model will hit 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, but German automakers are notorious for underestimating these numbers.
When we test vehicles on the road during a first drive event, the routes are unfamiliar and there isn’t always a perfect place to test the launch of a car. Audi rented out a small track called Speed Vegas, which has a decently long straightaway that is slightly uphill, and we managed to find stretches of straight roads outside the city with a slight decline. We were able to run the car to 60 three times, and even the slowest run was blistering.
A New CarBuzz Test Record
CarBuzz has been recording 0-60 times for Test Drive and First Drive Reviews since the beginning of 2024, and the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E-Performance 4-Door was the all-time leader with a time of 2.68 seconds for some time. It’s just been decimated. Our very first run to 60 mph in the RS e-tron GT took just 2.17 seconds, smashing Audi’s 2.4-second estimate and earning a spot atop our leaderboard. It’s also worth noting this time was done with less than 70% battery remaining.

RANKED: The Quickest Cars We Tested In 2024 From 0-60
Can you guess which was the quickest and which was the slowest?
We ran the car once more to ensure this time wasn’t a fluke, and recorded a slightly slower, but still impressive 2.28-second run to 60 mph. Even with this slower run, the RS e-tron GT would still be quicker than Audi says, and the quickest vehicle we’ve ever tested.
Towards the end of the day, Audi took us to Speed Vegas, where we launched the car for a third time on the track’s slightly uphill straight. This was the slowest run of the day, 2.36 seconds to 60 mph, which once again would have given Audi both records. We look forward to getting this car to review for a week on familiar roads and seeing what other publications are able to record on a prepped drag strip.
One Of The Quickest Cars In The World
There aren’t many production cars in the world that have recorded a quicker 0-60 mph time than the RS e-tron GT. The short list includes the following vehicles:
Keep in mind the Audi costs “only” $167,000, and it stands out even more as one of the best values on that list, apart from the Tesla Model S Plaid ($94,990). We know Audi could make the car even quicker, as evidenced by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and its sub-two-second 0-60 mph time. The most powerful Taycan boasts 1,019 hp and weight reduction, including a rear seat delete, so it’s not exactly a fair fight. Considering the e-tron GT got so close to the Taycan’s time while carrying massage seats, rear seats, and other heavy luxury features, Audi deserves some major praise.
