Jeep Made A Truck With A Hammock And It’s Not Even The Weirdest One

  • Jeep has unveiled seven new concepts for this year’s Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.
  • The models are pretty diverse, but the extended Bug Out 4xe might be the most eye-catching.
  • If this year has a theme, it’s nostalgia as there’s retro graphics and an SJ-inspired truck.

Every spring, Jeep fans descend on Moab like it’s off-road Christmas, and Jeep shows up with the presents. Dusty, lifted, trail-chewing presents. The Easter Jeep Safari is basically the brand’s annual flex, where engineers and designers get to toss out the rulebook and build weird, wonderful, sometimes completely unhinged machines just because they can.

});

This year is no exception as the off-road brand rolled into town with seven new concepts ranging from retro-themed throwbacks to trail-ready hybrids and design experiments. Some are functional, some are fun, and at least one looks like it lost a bet with a parts catalog.

Jeep Convoy

Kicking things off is the retro-inspired Convoy concept. It’s based on the Gladiator Mojave and features an SJ-inspired front end as well as a J-truck style hood. They’re joined by canvas half doors and a Ghost Ops matte paint job.

Other highlights include a 12,000 lb Warn winch, low-back leather seats, and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 40-inch BFGoodrich Krawler tires.

Jeep Bug Out 4xe

Moving along, there’s the Bug Out 4xe concept that is based on the plug-in hybrid Wrangler. It’s a two-door model that has been stripped down, extended 12 inches (305 mm), and turned into a truck.

}
});

The study also sports a raised roof, a custom hood, and 18-inch wheels with 37-inch BFG KM3 tires. Furthermore, the rear bed is setup for a sleeping hammock as the model is envisioned as a “mobile campsite.”

Jeep J6 Honcho

Fans of retro colors have a lot to celebrate as there are three different models with an old school aesthetic. The J6 Honcho concept is a two-door truck with a 2-inch (51 mm) lift and 17-inch bronze wheels shod in 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud terrain tires.

The Scrambler-like truck also sports a Warn winch, steel fender flares, and a custom sport bar. Inside, there are bronze accents and silence as the radio has been removed.

} else {

}
});

Jeep Gladiator High Top Honcho

The Gladiator High Top Honcho concept is somewhat similar, but it’s a four-door truck with heritage-inspired graphics. It also has an adjustable air suspension, an AEV front bumper, and a Decked bed storage system.

More notably, the concept has white steel wheels wrapped in 40-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires. They’re paired to Dana 60 axles with 5.38:1 gearing.

Jeep Rewind Concept

The two-door Rewind concept is based on the Wrangler Rubicon and is “dipped in all things ’80s/’90s kitsch.” As a result, it features a Grimace purple exterior with custom graphics that vaguely recall the Jazz pattern found on disposable cups.

The custom design extends to the seats and the model has even been outfitted with a “vintage cellular car phone.” We can also see gold-painted 17-inch AEV wheels sporting 37-inch BFG KM3 M/T tires.

Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon Sunchaser

Rounding third is the Wrangler 4xe Rubicon Sunchaser concept, which “carries all the necessary gear for a full day of activities from sunup to sundown.” As part of this effort, the model features side-mounted storage boxes that recall those found on the Land Rover Defender.

They’re joined by a roof rack, rock rails, and a custom leather interior. Other highlights include a 2-inch (51 mm) lift kit and 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud terrain tires.

Jeep Wrangler 4xe Blueprint

From the ‘burn it with fire’ collection is the Wrangler 4xe Blueprint concept. It’s a mobile eyesore that wears “more than 35 accessories finished in contrasting Mopar Blue [paint] and labeled with QR codes.”

While it’s not going to win any beauty contests, it has steel bumpers, a 2-inch (51 mm) lift, and three different types of 17-inch wheels. Designers also installed tubular doors, a snorkel, and auxiliary lights.
